Anyone here good at designing landscapes?

I'm trying to reduce the amount of grass in my backyard, and need some help.

    Thanks!

Yes, I am good at designing landscapes.

To reduce the amount of grass in your backyard, I recommend this very easy to use product:

I did my whole backyard in rocks last summer. Left some circles for growing plants and a little area for my dog we buried. But yeah, rocks are low maintenance, plus easy to DIY instead of hiring someone.

Or just put some trees in there, and surround them with a good few feet of bark with a rock trim. Pics of your setup would help.

whatever you do, make sure the plants are local and low-maintenance....nothing wastes money like trying to plant a tropical grass genus in a dry environment like Idaho.

The pictures are on my computer at work, I will have to post them when I get to work later tonight.

When I decide what is going to be removed, I am just going to rent a sod cutter, and rip out all the grass. I am tempted to try and put a fire pit in somewhere.

But ya, pics soon. I was on my way out from work when I posted, just wanted to get some responses before posting pics.

Problem with mulch is you have to replace it every year, or weeds grow back.

What's up with the fence lol?

That's a pretty nice area actually. You've got some rocks already , and some shade. I would put a landscaping bed/garden against the house though, that area looks rough.

oh, the fence, with the way the water lines on it are?

It was never sprayed, I might do that last.

I agree with the bed up against the house, and maybe along the lines of the fence. Connecting to where the tree is in the corner

one of our customers has a 30ft coconut tree that he spent almost 10k on a heating system and self contained dome so it can survive in winter....

Yeah im jealous for places that have them, we have a tiny one in our yard and our neighbor across the street has managed to keep theirs alive for a couple years now. Most places though that do have them around here wrap them up in the winter.
