    Koni installation ?!

    Hi there,

I just ordered the Koni struts for my corolla and I did not find a clear explanation for the installation!

I know that rear ones just remplace the OEM ones.

I also found on Koni's website that the front ones are inserts. Can I get more details? How hard it is to install? Does it matter if the OEM strut is killed?

Last question... What comes in the Koni box? Just struts? Installation sheet? Accessories? Strut covers (plastic that protect the strut from the dust)?

    Let me know...

I took a picture back in December during our beautiful winter...
Look how dirty our cars get!
I need to wash it at least once a week... It goes from Indigo ink to Grey :D LOL

You can not kill your front struts!!!

They have to be reused. You will have to remove the front struts, cut off the top of the towers, remove the stuff inside of them, and then insert the KONIs into them. That's the quick and dirty explanation of what you have to do.

My english is not "perfect" sorry...

What I wanted to mean with the word "killed" is that my front struts are not doing the job anymore. I can feel that they're getting a bit more loose everyday.

For the installation, I guess I'll see when I get the parts...

You're fine. If the struts are failing, then that's a mechanical problem related to the equipment INSIDE the strut housing. The KONIs replace everything and just simply reuse the housing since they're already pretty good and strong (made by KYB).

    Thank you for the input.

In Montreal those Koni's are on "special orders" only... I should have them in 2 weeks.

    It's too long...

I am planning on getting the konis to add to my tein S tech. Does anyone have some pics or can give me a drawing or better decription of what exactly i need to cut off on the front strut housing.....I am really anxious about cutting something without seeing it. I put the springs on myself but I dont have a good visual of the struts to feel confident. Thanks any help, and please give any adivce on this spring/strut combo, whether good or bad and what drop the struts are 'supposed' to handle.

i finished install, took a little lonnger since i had to destroy and replace link stabilizer to the sway bar ($90 from the overpriced toyota dealers). I set them for 3/4 turn in the front and 1/2 in the back....I noticed however that the back in sits really high, is there anything i can do about that, it just looks akward....who knows, after i get my alignment maybe ill really like it hehe.
