Just test drove the XRS... and than some

k.. i went to Toyota dealership today and tried to test drive the XRS... turns out that it was sold out as soon as it came in...

luckly it was by one of the workers over there...

so he let me test drove it.... what a luck...

it was still corolla but u can tell the difference right away...

the seating is very comfort unlike mine. and is very supportive.

i didnt' like the gauge.. teh coloring was horrible... until i turn the car off and the gauge disapears.

i took it to the curvey road and let the car scream all the way to 8300 rpm where i hit fuel cut-off and i shifted to second... next thing i know *BANG* i thought a truck hit me... that was fun.

the suspension is superb on this car.. it took that road like it was nothing... even i had trouble with it when i drove RSX-s on this road. 6-speed is to die for. and sound...
oh god the sound is sooooo beautiful its like a music.

the 170 HP engine is NOT a detuned Celica GT-S engine.

it seems like Toyota was listening to us...

they took the same engine and and tuned it so that most of that power and torque is available at mid RPM... this car can outrun celica GT-S in drag easily.

also about that strut bar... someone said that it was designed for comfort rather than sporty comparing to TRD one... u are wrong.... its a new design. it has actually a shock in it. it gives same stiffness as the regular strut bar but when u hit something this stifness will bounce and thow your car... but his strut bar will actually observe this shock and lets u keep the corner.
"its designed by YAMAHA" he said proudly

not a bad deal for $18000... too bad that this car is rare. they are getting 2 more shipment in 2 month and they are already called for. boooooo

The salesman than spoek to me that for the money value there is another car that is very good by toyota... Scion Tc.

And than he points at rear end of Tiburon... than i looked closer and looked at the side and i though it was RSX.... than i saw the rood ... HOT DAMN...

$17000 for this car.... this car was loaded... and that moonroof.... gonna love that moonroof. i checked the rear seat.. the rears seat can decline back and forward... and has more legroom than our rollas. no i am not kidding.. alot better than RSX since i can seat normaly, without folding myself.

I noticed that there are alot of trunk space so i looked under see whatsup.... OMG does this car need this complicated suspension system?!?!?!? i think it was full independent double wishbone... even XRS didn;t have that (still got the semi independent but more sport tuned)

    i ask for keys....

he just handed them to me and sat on drivers seat.... with seatbelts.

i sat on driver seat and adjust the seat... (it also moves up and down.) and the seating is like sport car ish. like celica. also very comfy... i took it the same road..

    Whhhhoooooshhhhh.

it was over too quick... it took the corner like nothing and accelated out of teh corner as if i had 300hp.... actually this car had 160hp 2.4 camry engine. RPM range is about same as ours but this got more power and good torque... infact it has better torque range than XRS. i mean i started the car at up hill in second gear and had no trouble.

only thing i didn't like about this car is that this car had 5 speed stick although it was more closer ration that ours. still cant beat the XRS's 6 speed. (that was tight trasmisison) the gauges were more for style than use. and that its fuel mileage is worse than XRS. oh yeah the clutch is light... way to light

XRS only thing i didn't like about it is that the rear seat don't fold down.

hmmm.... what should i get.... i am toyota fan so i will get Tc... why

because the Tc IS 100% MADE IN JAPAN. while XRS is MADE IN CANADA.

OOPS did i tell u that i am getting turbocharged Tc when it comes out in few years?

Cool review, sounds like they made some good suspension improvements. But I highly doubt that a stock XRS can take down stock GT-S in a drag because the GT-S weighs quite a bit less than the corolla. But I wonder who would win the battle between 03/04 Corolla SCed vs. 05 Corolla XRS around a course, that would be cool.

the Xrs will win... because availability of power at lower band.

GT-S's real power comes at 4000 to 4500.... by the time GT-S hit this spot XRS would be in the front.

XRS's power which comes around 3000 will kill the GT-S... that 1000 RPM difference is criticle by about a car or 2 car length.

but it road course GT-S will win over XRS becase availability of more power and in road race u usually stay in high RPM.

oh i don't know abouthe weights... theyare about the same.

i think the xrs would win in a road course. the available torque will pull it out of a corner faster.

first off a celica gt-s would manhandle an XRS on the track. The suspension is way better and it's a lot easier to stay in lift in the 00-01 celicas. Also a supercharged corolla would put up a very good fight, a supercharged rolla w/ suspension mods would probably whoop some ass.

geez i was talkingabout XRS vs GT-S

anyway just because u put superchareger in your car that doesn' tmean that you will kick some ass... because u don't have much traction (just look at the tire)

if you are smart u would do tire upgrade and suspension upgrade first before goint S/C
the stock suspension won't be able to give traction to front wheel at start (weight transfer)

actually i know someone who had CRX and he wanted to mod his engine so bad because his stock CRX is so slow... one day he try to race one of my buddy.... because he did some mod... well from teh start he was spinning tires and by the time he got the traction he was end of the line... (term is drag queen it is one of the most embarrasing thing)

we all laughed at him... until he showed his engine and its mod.

anyway superchared rolla with good suspension mod and tire will kick both cars arse. just look at its torque range.

    but it will cost money..

oh and don't think that XRS can't handle in track.... because it can hadle really good... might give GT-S some challange... of course the GT-S is wayyyy better in track.

    question though.....

what is the redline in S/Ced rolla? i heard the chip that comes with it changes the redline.

Well, thanks for teaching us all about traction

I think it brings it up like 300 RPM?
