Just some simple question about VVTI engine and ideal spee

    I hope your not romping on the accelerator when the motor is cold... It's best to keep it under 3k until it's warm.

    Just some simple question about VVTI engine and ideal spee

    Hi i new to this forum i know little about cars anywaz let me just get to the point
    I have a car and it has a toyota vvti engine inside and i notice whn i start up the car it ideal every high and gradually falls
    i am guessing that because whn i start the car the engine usually cold

    i just wanna know casue usually whn i start my car it from cold start and the ideal speed usually around 1800rpm and thn it fall as the engine get warmer

    the reason i am asking this casue my dad thing the engine ideling too high

    yes, when the car is started cold it will idle higher to warm the motor up.

    seriously, that's how DOT blew his motor! If you think about it, when your car is off, you have one piston at the top with exhaust valves open, one piston all the way down allowing gas and air to come in, and two other pistons mid way in the middle of combustion processes. in other words, valves are open allowing atmosphere to enter the engine. this atmosphere can dry up cylinder rings, gaskets, and anything frail. if you drive it to hard right after startup, you'll wear down these frail components faster. take it easy until everything has had time to lubricate and warm up.
