along with a 2zz you would also need the transmission and the ECU. the 1zz is the cheaper way to go and if you ever decide to go FI the 1zz is cheaper.

don't forget...complete new wiring harness, battery relocation, motor mount relocation, good luck stuffing the tranny in the car without some serious help...

heh...it's a LOT of work...and most people, once they get into the research, aren't up to the task. HOWEVER, as you said, the 1ZZ is a much better option for forced induction...tearing apart the head is never fun unless it's a rotory motor...and it's overly costly just to lower compression a few degrees.

Just replaced my engine with....another 1zz

The 2zz's are like $2000 for ones that are 50k mi.+So I decided to look in town and found 2 1zz's for $400 each- one w/ 10K mi. and the other w/ 15K. So the last 2 weeks was swapping out the blown engine for the lightly used one. I blew it running into a puddle w/ a CAI- right after, when I took out the plugs and turned it over, it looked like a water fountain show under my hood. Holy moly. Anyway, me and a friend did all the work ourselves, and it was quite the learning experience...I've done RWD truck engines, but the 1zz swap was so much more involved. But all is good now, I was driving around last night in my car, and have to do an oil change today.

I dunno if a 2zz bolts up, but that woulda been a bitch to try to figure the hoses and sensor hookups, most likely would have had to buy a 2zz harness, and do a shitload of splicing- I hear that it does, but I cant see how anyone could make one run correctly in a rolla, unless they had some huge amount of time/no responsibilities. Anyway, my rolla's back from the dead and ready to go to the dealership for my new tC.

I will be having a firesale next month, look for it, alot of parts, OEM and aftermarket, have 3 heads, 2 sets of any sensor(3 MAF's) and just about anything one might need, especially stock.

negative. there's a lot of custom fabwork that needs to be done, as well as changing the motor mounts.

it would be hard as hell to do without either a good shop(with knowledgeable folks) or a lot of custom fab knowledge of your own. you're better off getting what you got.

interesting.... because those motors don't have MAF's (aka afm's).... they have a map sensor and an air temp sensor

I'll sell one for $80 shipped, those damn things are $175 @ the dealership. Also have an extra O2 sensor. Not selling the coolant temp sensor, I needed that one-

Ill post everything else on the For Sale forum in a couple of months.

My email is Pantaloon007@hotmail if you have questions
