I haven't removed them on a rolla, but on another car it involved welding the new headers to the exhaust system and buying new bolts for the headers to connect to the block. Maybe the corolla is easier to work on?

it won't require welding.......i think you'll need a new gasket though.

Ya, getting a new gasket minimizes the chance of leaks. Maybe even some new nuts and studs on hand just in case you strip something. No welding is required, but you'll have to work from both above AND below the car to get to all the nuts and bolts necessary to remove the heatshiled and header.

Just get some sealant and a new header gasket kit.

You remove the old headers from the engine just replace the gaskets, connect it back up and that's it.

There was DIY on a matrix site I think :p

installation is pretty easy. the only hard part is taking off the heat shield and the stock header. there is the step.

1 ) Unplug the O2 sensor from the engine (a little connector on the top right side of the engine)
2 ) Unscrew and take out your top heat shield
3 ) Unscrew your bottom heat shield, (the bottom heat shield will not come off)
4 ) Unscrew your header from the head block. (besure to do it in a pattern)
5 ) Unscrew your header from the exhaust pipe.
6 ) Take the stock header out from the engine bay.
7 ) Unscrew your O2 sensor from the stock header and screw it to the new header
8 ) **IMPORTANT**Take the stock exhaust donut from the header (see picture below) and put it onto the new header.
    9) put the stock gasket back to the right place
    10) screw your new header.
    11) done.

NOTE1 you don't need to change the gasket because our gasket is reusable.
NOTE2 besure to Spray the exhaust studs with some WD-40 or other lubricant
NOTE3 there are 80% of chance your header will leak from the exhaust donut

So Hoolala you never mentioned how big of a difference you felt with the headers compared to the stock header.

Not a problem. I wouldn't be surprised to see a slight loss in low TQ though (say 5 ft-lbs), but I think that the gains up high will be worth it since that's where I race anyways.

Got to eat than I'm going to go install it and take hella pics of it so I can do a formal "how to" on it

Didn't take hella pics cause it's a very easy install.

As for that, it sounds like s*** cause I have a huge leak where the donught thing bolts up to the stock midpipe. They are at different angles, so there is really nothing I can do about it. Performance seems to be the same if not a little more throttle response (haven't really driven it yet though).

I am getting a custom midpipe made with my first couple paychecks, so that should solve all of the problems and I'll have my exhaust guy check out the headers for leaks too (just in case).

Overall I'm frustrated that I have a leak (a big one at that), but I half expected one. I am now just waiting to get payed so that I can get my midpipe done and be done with my whole exhaust system

JP. It's not the headers problem, they are great. It's just that the midpipe and header come together at a different angle so the bottom of it leaks a lot. Not a big deal considering I don't drive my car right now cause I screwed up the windows :?

The problem will be fixed for sure when I get my midpipe.
