just to let you know 7A-fe is a usdm motor in the 7Th gen. the motoer you have a 1ZZ-Fe is more capable, but if you want to swap in a motor i would recomend a 2ZZ-Ge from a celica gts or matrix xrs or corolla xrs.

    jdm engine for 2001 corolla

    Hi,

I have a 2001 corolla sport 5spds, i want to put a jdm engine in it. what engine should i put in it without any good mods, like pretty much everything bolt-on. I heard 7afe fits, whats the power level on this engine? do i need ecu, tranny?

    Thanks

    Jordan

Hey Jordan, where are you from? In North America, all 01 rolla come with 1.8L 1ZZ-FE which is replacement of the old 7A-FE. I don't think you want to swap to an older engine.
If you're from other country which may comes with 1.5L 1NZ-FE.

agreed... its gonna have more potential that way...

after the internals, boost it... thats what people told me when i asked how difficult it is to swap in a 4-age silvertop...

Boost has 2 "o's" so i can say boo. if you can find a 2zz-ge, it'd be the easiest to swap over. btw, in canada, are the corolla's speedometer read in mph or kmh?

swapping a 2zzge motor cost alot of money to install or just trade in your car and get a used corolla xrs,i would.
