    issues with radiator flush...

So, I have an '03 Corolla with 53,000 miles and I had noticed some rust accumulating on my radiator cap and noticed the coolant was getting a bit slimy around the neck of the rad. So, I decided to flush it and about 4 hrs after I started, I was all WTF!?

I flushed and filled and flushed and filled and flushed and filled and flushed an filled and ran the car and cooled it down and ran it some more and let it cool and just had a horrible time because no matter what I did, it still came out red and foamy with debris in it. I started out using distilled water for the flushing, but then reverted back to the water hose because I bought 3 gallons and needed to save a gallon for the refill.

So, the coolant system capacity is 6.8qt. So, I figured I would put 3.5qt of the coolant in and then just fill it up the rest of the way with distilled water. Well, I added my 3.5 qt of coolant and the system was full. No more could be added. This is AFTER I had driven it around and it cooled down and been burped and all that jazz.

So, I KNOW I still have some of that radiator flush in there AND hard water from the garden hose AND some debris. How's that going to bode for my cooling system??

    Late,
    Trav
