    Is this safe?

I have a sub running off a amp right now thats not mono which is only 800 watts, and the sub is 1200 watts. Im thinking of getting a second sub so my setup will be.
    2x 1200 watt subs
and put a new amp on them which would push 1200 watts to each and is a mono amp.

Is it safe to push 1200 watts into a 1200 watt sub or will it blow it? ive heard you want to always be under so you dont blow it but is that true?

    this is what i want

It really depends on the sub and the amp. Some companies simply want to look good on paper and will put ratings way above what they can really take..which is stupid because people will blow them and then get very upset and send them back.. but at least they get people to buy the product.. other companies worry that a blown sub will make them look bad and underrate there subs (and amps).. i'd say the better companies underrate.
Boss is a company that brags and boasts numbers but doesnt put out for crap, as far as i've heard anyways.. If i were you i'd get something more along the lines of Hifonics, mtx, rockford fosgate, jl audio, RE, etc.. That sub looks like a decent deal, as inexpensive as it is.. Ii've never heard one before though.. The 1200 watts is a max rating, so dont get an amp that is going to put out that much RMS for them... If you have a corolla (which i'm assuming since your in this site) you'll never get 2400 watts out of the stock alternator anyways... If you really want two subs, I'd put one Hifonics brutus on two of those subs and you'd be fine. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3061648540&category=18797
looks like they are dual 4 ohm subs.. So ran in parallel will give 2 ohms per sub.. and the set in parallel will give 1 ohm... the amp will then push about 1500 watts rms so each sub will get 750 watts.. Thats pleanty enough believe me.. You are going to probably need 1/0 gauge power and ground though..and your lights will probably still be dimming greatly....

When you say i cant get 2400 watts out of my alternator, does that mean i cant get new speakers and amps besides the subs? I want to upgrade my normal speakers, or put some kind of bass blocker on them so they dont distort at high levels.
What would you suggest i do for normal speakers and amps, i was thinking 200 watt speakers all around, pioneer and since i already got that 800 watt boss amp use it for the back 2 speakers and get another for the front. I also dont know which to get 2 way 3 way etc for front and back. Thanks for the help i appreciate it.
