Is a resonator necessary on my exhaust??

I took my resonator off last year and put it back on for the winter and I'm thinkin about takin it off again. Are there any advantages of having one or not having one?

I live in ND and exhaust is legal as long as you have a catylitic converter.

Same here, but exhaust is at 92 db at 2,500 and legal here is 95 db at that same rpm. So my resonator is staying on
