    Interior Neons

Has anyone installed interior neons below the dash/floor area? Trying to find the best way to both secure them to the underdash area and change the power source from cig lighter to battery. Any help appreciated.

    Thanks

    Re: Interior Neons

If it was me, I would run a FUSED wire directly from the positivie terminal on the battery to a switch in the dash, and then connect the neons to that. I have a LE so I was able to mount the switch for my exterior neons in the panel that covers up the hole where the fog light switch goes in the S trim. If you have a S, I'm not sure where you could put it... possibly underneath the dash on the drivers side... there is a little thin ledge of plastic (that is where I mounted the bass control for my amp).

I'm not sure if there is a difference between the US and Canadian S, but my fog light switches are on the same branch as the headlights. In my S there is a small panel where the light level adjustments can be made (on the left-hand side of the wheel), and there is also a cheezy looking coin holder slot. I would cut that out and install the switch there...

Hmm next to my coin holder I have a blank panel that I can only assume was meant for a fog light switch (there is a wiring harness behind the switch too). Maybe that panel is meant for something else then... I couldn't imagine the US and Canadian Corollas being different seeing as how a good number of our Corollas are built in Canada.

Yep, my fog light switch is on the headlight branch off the wheel. There is a coin holder and possible something else, I might try that. Otherwise, I thought about making a custom switch panel and mounting that in a discrete place.

i just put mine in today. I got two 15" blue neon tubes and it was so easy to mount and wire. These can be tuned so that it turns on and off with a sound of a bass. It is a cool function but i believe it will get old very quick. And believe me, i am a complete idiot when it comes down to wiring. anyways, i will post my pic soon. its worth the money. im thinking about getting two more for the back...hmmm

If you want your neon to come on when the music is playing (radio is on) then as long as you don't have too much neon only 1-2 small tubes you can run it off your amplifier. Just put the power wire into the remote terminal and the ground in the ground terminal. Small neon won't draw that much current so you will be fine. If you are worried about it then run a relay.

i just added two 15 blue neons under my dash, by far the easiest way to do it is with plastic zip ties. my tubes can either light up with the bass or stay on solid. i put them under the dash and ran the wiring along the sides of the center console , between the console and the carperting and plugged them into the cigarette lighter in the center console with a double adapter. i ran the wiring through the back cupholder so very little wire actually shows!
    looks great,

has anyone added neon in the back seat area??? looking for ideas there! thx AKIRA
