    Intake Lost of Power???

Recently I helped a friend install an intake into his 2000 corolla...unfortunatly it was an intake without a MAF sensor. Therefore we drilled our own whole, everything went well...IT seems as if was done right...yet after we let it sit n reseted the ECU we took it for a test drive...While flooring it the vehicle seem to have lost power....

If you install an intake is it suppose to lose power and sound better? Or is it suppose to gain HP at 5RPM and sound better?

your suppose to loose "very little" at lower rpms..very little, but gain very little as your rpms climb up..at least about 5k..i think somethings messed up with the installation process..perhaps the sensors arent working correctly?

So you are suppose to lose a little power...is the power noticeable? When we floored it we noticed a major loss..it was like we floored it for a better sound yet the car creeped and felt like a turtle...

no that is NOT normal..something is screwed up big time..it might be a serious issue that needs to be taken care of..and it could most likely be some sort of leaking...air leakage or vaccum line..

the power you loose is VERY VERY little... you're not supposed to feel it... specially at high rpms... maybe a lil at launching... just like when u get a new muffler or larger catback.

the MAF sensor needs to be in a exact location for it to work proberly. im guessing this is your problem since u had to make the hole to mount it
