    Instrument cluster screw up...Help

Alright, so I took my instrument cluster out today, because I am ordering some LEDs to replace the lights, because I can't stand Amber. So I took everything apart and didn't realize that the Needles don't go on a specific way. They just go on, and now all my needles are screwed up, and its not giving me the correct RPM's, Temp, Gas, and Speed. Can someone please help me on this. I need to get this back on right :(

    Thanks,

Might be SOL on that cluster. I've done that before on my older Honda - opps, ended up getting another cluster.

If just the needle movement, i.e. needle seems to react/move too slowly or too quickly - try pushing and pulling on the needle shafts. There is sort of a "sweet spot" that the meter will start working correctly.

The factory service manual doesn't list a recalibration sequence - that might be something available on a TIS system or similar. Might be able to get it to work again, just have to futz around with them a bit more.

I figured it out, When I unplug the cluster and plug it back in, and turn the key to start, but not actually start the car, the Needles get reset to Zero for the speed and RPM, and to the bottom on the Heat Temp Graph thingy. so I just popped the Needles off and let it reset and placed the needles on them while they were at zero. And then turned the car off and placed the Fuel needle on at Empty.

I started the car and everything appears to be functioning correctly

    Thanks for all the replies.

I will be getting the LED's this weekend. Should be completed by Tuesday.

I ended up using an OBDII computer and drove my car at 40mph, stuck the needle back on the stick so it said 40 when I'm doing 40 according to the VSS. can do the same trick on the tach, never pulled my other needles

Why did you even have to remove the needles? You are just replacing the black lighting, right? The bulbs to remove are in the back, not the front.

Yea thats what i was thinking. U didn paint ur needles did u?

I've been running leds, but for some reason they dont get as good of an electrical contact with the cluster circut board as the light bulbs do. My middle Led no longer makes contact with any LED bulb unless i switch to a light bulb. WHICH MAKES NO SENSE, but I think i need to purchase a new cluster circuit board.

Also i hope u bought the right size bulbs, my middle bulb had to be smaller than the outer two bulbs!!!

No, the lights for the dash are LED's on Mine, which are directly on the PCB. And I needed to see how many I needed to Order. I wish it was a bulb :'(

It all makes sense now. I thought the leds have to be soldered in? I didn't think it would be that easy to simply replace led bulbs.

I'm going to Solder on White. I found it to be a good Gauge color. I didn't want to do it blue, and find that I don't like it, and have to resolder it lol. So White it is. Can't wait to show everyone :)
