idea for 4/7afe tubular turbo manifold

So to the best of my knowledge there is no production tubular turbo manifold for the 4/7afe.. I have thought about welding the exhaust mani flange to a 4age turb manifold.. but that would only work if the runner distance are simular and if there is proper clearence.. but intrestingly enough I just came across this while being bored

a bseries turbo mani with a 4ag exhaust flange welded to it (stolen frm club 4ag)

would this work on the 7afe ..hmmm

Yeap, it will work no problem, just need to bend the pipes a very little bit and then weld on a 7A flange.

Dr Tweak, you should buy a Tig welder and build Turbo Manifolds for a living. I've seen them go for like $1200 before. And it can't take too long to build them once you have a jig made :D Damn I would do it if I had the garage space.

I'd love too, but a TIG fetches a pretty penny right now, and I'm not quite ready for it. The time is coming soon though :)

yeah..... a friend of mine (probably the best old school toyota guy EVER) just had a nice miller setup in his house..... after the install & other stuff (and i think his plasma cutter as well) it was close to like $6,000

I'd buy one if it is guarenteed to clear the alt, ac comp, radator etc. Even if the b series manny work, it is still a shot in the dark when it comes to clearence and plumbing..

I'm in the market right now for a nice mig myself but they just keep slipping through my finger on cragslist. Just today a nice 130A lincoln with regulator sold for 150 just half an hr before I called the guy.

It's already been done on a 6th gen Celica, so it should work on the Corolla no problem.

Yeah, I've been watching them too, but they're not too active up my way.

Boost is sweet Pssssst. I just need to locate a nice recirculating BOV because the eManage anti engine stall feature works but sucks balls :D

Hell no I'm not buying an ultimate, it was too damn hard as it was to finish this project and I'm 4k in the hole :) I'll upgrade to the ultimate if the engine is still alive in a year or so hehe :D

haha i'll take the regular emanage off your hands in a yr then..

I was searching on ebay for a b series manifold with a t25 flange and came across this..
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Supe...ewItemQQcategoryZ33742QQitemZ8026090750QQrdZ1
(I know it says d seies on the title but seller carries b series manifolds as well)
I figured I could modify the manifold and the dp a lil on the civic kit to fit my corolla (the same way Barnacules modified his tsi corolla kit to fit err... a corolla :pj/k) spend another 600 on misc plumbing (diy chargepipes, oil, coolant, dp, diy catback) and 6-700 on fuel management and i'll be set with my very own turbo kit using top components with less than 2g's (wishful thinking).. But I really dont want that bov and I always had my heart set on a GT25.. ehhh one can dream.

I didn't have to mess with the manifold to get it to fit my car though, just had to create a down pipe from scratch which was not fun :)

man, this got me thinking about using a k20 manifold for my car, b eing that both engines are transversely mounted. i wonder how close it would be to bolting up to a 1zz block. man, i wish i had enough money to experiment! :(

Wouldn't you need to upgrade the internals of the 4/7afe for it to handle boost? I've always heard it wasn't the best platform to use for true performance.

It depends on how far you take it. There are plenty of 4/7AFEs running around on 7 or 8 psi and stock internals.

    hey doc,

would you happen to have any pics of a celi running with this type of setup? I've been stairing at my engine bay trying to figure out the best way to route the turbo to intercooler chargepipe.. if I have the compressor outlet pointing down, the a/c compressor is in the way; pointed up the alternator is in the way.. I might be able to go under the ac comp but i'm not sure, or go around if I use 2" charge pipes welded with a few complex bends and a civic EG half-radiator mounted on the driver side.. or I could figure out a way to fab a alternator relocation bracket to move the thing to the intake side.. just bouncing a couple of ideas and want to see how other's do it.

Head over to 6gc.net and do a search for 7AFTE, that might help you out.

ha ha, for 500 it's a rough thing to pass over though i mean shit, it even comes with a downpipe, takes a lot of custom work out of piecing together your own setup. yeah, but log style :( t3 :(. but it's sooo ocheap!!!!

That's pretty damn good for $500. Then you'd just have to figure out the rest of the piping and intercooler fitment.

ya intercooler piping mainly, then you've got the whole fuel issue to deal with. it comes with a DP but who knows if it actually bolts to anything!
