    i have a ?

im buying some header wrap for my 03 corolla s and as you all know if you have a cai or sri the radiator hose is directly underneath seeing as this hose gets hot it heats up the intake as well would it hurt to actually wrap the radiator hose to keep that heat away from the intake or should i wrap the intake with a intake wrap thanks for the help and opinions

If you wrap the radiator hose, it will heat up the fluid since the heat can't dissipate, personally I wouldn't do that since you don't want your coolant to get any hotter than it has too... If anything, i'd wrap the intake, but even then, if the source of the air is cool (especially in the case of a CAI), it won't make much difference because the air passes by quite quickly through the intake, barely enough time to heat up (it does heat up a bit, but not enough, I don't think, to make a difference with or without the heat wrap).

apsolutly correct... the air is in your intake tube for less than a second... not nearly enough time to heat up... that and it spends even less time over the radiator hose...

you could take off the Thermostat but your engine would run very cold and take a long while to heat up. try getting a thermostat that opens at 160 to 180 degrees. the stock opens up at 195 for all models that are 1.8 from 93 and up (current gen).i removed mine (01 Rolla S) and the engine ran a faster, cooler, but man will it drink up gas. but its work the work to remove it. just don't void your warranty.Make sure youe keep it becasue when it starts to get cold and your driving on the intestate the engine will cool back down and the needle will mark "C" and you car will go into a lower gear trying to heat the engine up but when gas is given it will run faster. Though you may never get into OD or fourth gear.

this site is informative, and true to what they sell. Really on your intake design it is need more and tends to get hotter than the older rollas. the reason the intake heats up more is because lines to the cooling system runs to the coolant temperature system in turn heats up the intake. Since you rolla has a elevated intake it gets hot and stays hot. if you can find what you need it okay. if you can contact Vamp (here on members list) he will give you his site as to to a coolant pass though.it should help lower down temperatures.

if its a manual it will runs even faster than the auto's since you are in charge of the gears.
