    I hate insurance companies!!

    well healthcare insurance, that is.

I went thru the website to find out if a doctor that was recommended to me was in network. The website said he was. Good. I go to this doctor. After going to this guy 5 times and going to the hospital for blood work and other tests, it took me 100.00 in co-pays for him to tell me I'm fat. NO SHIT SHERLOCK! Fine...time goes by. I finally get my statements from the insurance company and two say that they're paying 100%. The others say 60%. So I call the insurance company and explain to them that I found the doctor on their site and that he's in network. They said, he isn't and that they're only paying 60% (this was said with a major attitude..like if I was bothering them and shit)!

I was heated so i call the doctor to verify it with him and sure enough he says he's in network. He gave me the number to the billing agency that sends in his claims because I told him, I'd be getting a bill real soon. I gave this company a call and after looking at my account, they didn't understand why the insurance company was paying out of network. The lady said she'd take care of it. Two days later I get a bill from the agency (was sent before we spoke) saying I owe almost $400.00  and that I'm 90 days past due!!! WTF?!?! Needless to say I called the insurance company and chewed them the fuck out! They finally said, "We'll do a 3-way call with PHCS (another part of the insurance company) to verify if the doctor is in network or not." While on hold, they come back to me apologizing like they killed my pet goldfish. They said their system wasn't updated with the doctors information and they have put in the information needed and would reprocess the claims.

I call the agency and let them know I got their bill and that I contacted the insurance company. The lady said she's surprised I had more luck then she did cause she's waiting on a response from a supervisor over at the insurance company. I told her what happened and she told me not to worry about the bill or the past due status. A week later and after speaking to 5 different people and the billing agency speaking to a supv and manager...they finally finished reprocessing the claims.

Cause of them, the doctor i went to stopped taking the insurance I have. The billing agency now has to review ALL the claims sent to this insurance company to see if the same thing happened to all of them. And this doctor has been in network since 2005. So now I must go look for another doctor...again.

sorry its long..i just had to rant..

they do. but I don't have time to deal with their mistakes. they should of worked with the billing agency from the begining. How is it that a manager can't read notes but a service rep can? either way..its over with. Don't ever want to go thru that again.
