I got a price for a complete turbo kit !

I've call a local shop here in montreal...

For a stage-2 turbo kit.... 6000$/can installation included you get :

    Custom manifold
    turbo t3/t4 garrett
    complete piping
    More injectors
    Turbo computer
    intercooler
    3" exhaust with muffler

    It provide 66% of gain...

Here the TRD supercharger cost about 5000$/can so I think I should go with the turbo...

What do you think ? (I'm planing to buy it at the end of the winter)

I'm not sure about those mumbers

TRD Supercharger is $2500 US / 3,261 CAD
and the SF Turbo is $3300 US / 4,305 CAD

the parts from the turbo setup described above seem very similar... why not buy the SF Kit and then get the exhaust and other stuff extra? Might still be cheaper.

guys just quit thinking about SF now and get it over with before any one else gets hurt,

there are too many people that have thrown money his way and are either still waiting for their kits or have gotten products that they are not satisfied with.

add to that SF's near legendary lack of customer service= bad deal.

the setup you have been quoted seems like a lot of money, but if the computer is a full engine manigement solution, with proper dyno and tuning included in the price, its not that bad...

more and more i think the TRD S/C is the way to go for us. if you want more than that can give you, trade out and buy a faster car and mod that.

im def gonna dish out the money to get a turbo on my car.... i would never trade my corolla for anything else. your right about SF tho... they are slow and worthless but they are the only ones that have a provent turbo kit for our cars so im willing to wait as long as i need for them to get back with me.

    proven? proven by who?

list the names of people running the SF kit, that have not had problems dirrectly related to the quality/engeneering of the kit.

seriously, you'd send thousands of dollars to a "slow and worthless" vendor?

if you want to go turbo, the only real answer is a custom set up from a local tuner (or a DIY piece together, but theres going to be tons of personal fab work there).

    true...

but if you have the money and live close by to this tuner... why not go for it. you can always keep 'em in check.

So if, like you said, the computer is a full engine manigement solution, with proper dyno and tuning, it would be a great kit to buy ?

I'd do it if you had some gaurantee that it wouldn't cost more or do damage to your engine in testing. Something like that.

I'm thinking the only solution to our turbo problems is a custom setup :?

as yes boost at it's best. I agree with the bulk of these people. The corolla IS NOT made for a turbo kit. Your best bet is to get one custom fabricated. That way it is specifically made for your car. First thing I'd do is probably resleeve the engine from MWR just to strengthen it for the boost  . I actually contacted a shop that specializes in custom turbo and intercooler setups. I was quoted around 5 grand if they can modify a celica GTS kit. Or 6500 to 7 grand for a FULL custom fabricated system. Which includes:

    Bigger injectors
    Greddy EManage
    Custom Intercooler setup
    Custom Fit Greddy Turbo
    Custom WasteGate
    Custom exhaust
    Custom Header
Custom Custom Custom, you get the idea

I was also quoted around 250 Whp if I went this route. But keep in mind with that kinda horses running on a car used to 130 stock, you gotta do work to the suspension, handling, and for stick people like me, the clutch

i'll guarentee that kit wont fit without MAJOR modification...like rotating the tubo housing, crating a custom wastegate bracket, all new intercooler pipes and air intake pipes...ect. Look, just get a custom job done like i did. I spent about $3000 on it and its money well spent. just go buy the manifold from MWR, the turbo from ebay, intercooler from ebay, injectors from ebay, custom make pipes (mendrel bends), get an air filter, some oil lines, and ur good to go :) (probabnly more i'm forgetting, but whatever :) its pretty cheap, and you'll enjoy the results...trust me.) at 6.5psi, you'll beat most blown rollas.
