    here's what they said...

    Enrico,

Thank you for your interest in TEIN High Performance Suspension
Products. TEIN engineers have designed the S.Tech and High.Tech
    springs to
utilize factory struts, with no affect on the lifespan of your struts
    .

you have any further questions feel free to contact us.

I would think, that the older the struts are, the more of a possiblity that the strut may go out on you if the car is lowered. If the struts are new then I can see them lasting a while.

If the springs do cause ur struts to blow, at least you have an argument and an email to back it up..lol.

Ok, here comes education time. :)

The most common reason struts get blown when you put lowering springs on is that most of us don't put lowering springs on until much later in the lifespan of a car, ie +40k. In a large percentage of those cases, your factory struts have been broken in and gotten used to a certain range of movement based on the factory springs. when you shorten your springs by putting a lowering spring, such as a tein or even an eibach you have reduced the length of your strut/shock by at least an inch or two putting more pressure on the seals inside the shock. in a few cases, the stress of running under this higher pressure at such a late phase causes the seal to blow and the shock to fail. imagine a 40 yr old man who stayed in decent shape his whole life then went out and ran a marathon without training... he may make it, he may drop dead. Now, with that said, there is *NOTHING* different about a TEIN spring that will make your shock blow any more than if you put an Eibach on it. I've seen this happen before on older Camaros (namely one I had) where I replaced the springs with Hotchkis springs in the front and ended up with a blown shock (no surprise, it was a KYB - which is what Toyota's run) to which I just replaced it and *NEVER* had a problem again. The shock on the other side, 100% happy and never had a problem throughout the time I had that car. Shocks can blow for various reasons... just ask 7MGTTEConcept about that... he's blown a shock on his supra before and (the main point i'm making here) even had to replace a shock in his *BRAND NEW* XRS.

^^n besides ur modifying one component out of many...to get full satisfaction, im sure youd have to upgrade more than just the springs...if they're high performance springs working on stock parts, then i would expect something to fail somewhere...its like changing out ur deck before you change out your stock speakers...if u listen to it too loud, somethings gonna blow...
