HU install help

    HU install help

    is it really as easy as im hoping it would be? can i definitly do this myself with just a screwdriver? i read the DIY in that section and it seems a bit daunting to pull the whole center console apart.

    how does the wiring work? do i have to strip and connect any wires? or does the wiring harness match exactly to all the wires and clip right on? is the install kit put on last and just snapped into place?

    can anyone lead me to a detailed DIY on regular HU installs on a 04 corolla? oh one last thing, the 03 and 04 are exactly the same right?

    Most places offer free installation, why you doing it yourself? Its not hard to install but if its your first time your guarenteed to break something, go buy a tear down manual or call crutchfield and get an install guide... as well as a wire harness, antenna adapter if required...

    Good suggestion. If you buy from Crutchfeild they include the bezel, wiring harness, and vehicle-specific installation instructions. Can't hate their prices, and the phone support is superb.

    Re: HU install help

    There is a DIY in the Do it Yourself section that will help you pull the satock radio out. As far as putting in a new one.. get a dash kit and a wire harness (both can be found in the parts section), match up the colors on the harness you buy with the new radio harness.. stick in the stereo in the dash kit, snap the harnesses together, and then reverese the removal steps.
