Please only something that makes sense, no 500hp awd super hicas $50,000 corolla gtr type s.

I personally would like it if Toyota gave buyers a choice of 3 engines and 3 body styles.

1. 4 dr sedan FWD with a 1.8L 130hp or a 2.4L 170hp
2. 2 dr hatchback FWD with the 1.8L 180hp GTS motor
3. 2 dr sedan RWD with the 2.4L scion motor with a TRD blower mildly tuned to about 220hp

uhh.. non ugly?

4 dr sedan with 1.9L 140hp base model and 2.3L 165hp for higher model.
Both have dual VVTi

it wont happen...with the supra on the way...and the tc taking celicas place they have no need for a fast corolla...corolla has been a eco/gas saver/reliable label car for too long........look at the celica mr2spyder..ect all got the chopping block.......maybe the corolla next??....a 4 door scion tc.....will be introduced??? much like the si 200hp 4 door coming out...and the rsx....both similar cars ..one mite get the chopping block......

I don't see why so many "corolla boys" care so much about the Supra coming out when hardly any of them can afford one. The supra and the corolla are on two totally different planets. That's like Dodge stopping the production of the SRT4 because it competes with the Viper. LOL.

the tC is a pathetic replacement for the Celica. The Celica GTS would outhandle a Scion in reverse. The last gen celica was the best handling FWD car next to the Integra Type R. Sorry Scion fans, but your tC is nothing more than an econobox in sporty body panel. It uses the Avensis platform, more closer to the Camry than the Celica.

Nearly every other maker has a higher performance model of their econobox. Lancer has an EVO. Impreza has the WRX STI. Dodge "had" the SRT4. Honda has the SI. Mazda had the Mazda Speed. Toyota had nothing until the Corolla XRS. As much as I like the XRS, it can't compete with any of the cars mentioned above. Toyota is a coward when making performance cars. They can do it, but they're too scared. For what reason, I don't know.

The sales of the Celica slowed down because it priced itself to death. A base Celica would run you about $19,000. The competition just has far better cars for the same price. If you want the GTS with the Action Package, that would cost you about $26,000. More than a WRX and a bit less than a Lancer EVO. Who in their right mind would buy a car with half the performance at the same price?

The MR2 spider would've been great if Toyota didn't stick a Corolla engine in it. People would've loved the GTS motor in it. I've driven one and they handle great. But why would I want a sports car that would be left behind by a grocery getter?

Don't hold your breathe. The Corolla is Toyota's bread and butter. It's also the best selling car on this planet, it outsold the VW Bug about 10 years ago.

That's exactly why Toyota responded with the Corolla XRS. Honda has been making a higher performance model of their civic for years while Toyota sat with their thumb up their ass. I'm glad that they responded, but $20,000 for a Corolla that's still not that "good", Toyota has to try harder. The Celica GTS put out 180hp, yet Toyota detunes the same engine in they put in the Corolla and takes away 15hp... what the f$#k is that?


I like Toyotas and this is my 2nd Corolla. But when it comes time for me to get another car, and Toyota has a Corolla with a "performance" model with only a 20% power advantage over the barebone model and costing about 45% more... sorry Toyota, but another brand will be getting my money.

Yeah but its a different case for us canadians we don't have Scions in Canada and we can only import the xa and xb...its impossible to import the tc...so what do we have between the supra (if we ever get it) and the corolla.......

... as for this ignorant reply, i happen to be xero's wife and i make more than enough money to afford one for him.. hell i could buy him a brand new Z06 if he wanted but do we choose too? no. I have more priorities in life than spending all my money on a car.. like say ummm.. a house payment? kids?? I don't race grocery getters. I do race. If you want to know what, you can find me and my friends in the Angeles Forrest on certain weekends. Here's a clue, it's got two wheels and slightly ony over 120hp. I have a feeling that even if you push your Scion down the cliff, I'd still beat it down the mountain.

- i would say 4 version(Sedan, 2 door[Levin], 5 door hatch [no more matrix but renamed as RunX], 3 door hatch)
-base engine 2.0L 160hp, optional 3S-GE BEAMS Engine 200hp, and a hybrid 1.8L engine as top model Limited
-fully independent suspension w/ bilstein shocks and lowered springs, slightly bigger sway bars, tower bars etc on the sporty model..
-5spd auto or 5spd manual on base model and 6spd manual available for sporty model and CVT for top of the line hybrid model

I think the Scion tC is a good car, specially for the money. You get a lot of car for the money. However, I laugh my fricking ass off when stupid ricers like you think that it's an Enzo beater after putting a hot air intake and coffee can exhausts and painting your side moldings.


By the way, nearly every Corolla owners buy a Corolla because it's all they can afford. You give people $50,000 and tell them to buy any car they want with that money... and I can guarantee you that it won't be a Corolla.
