how to put vvt-i engine in 98 corolla

Just out of curiousity.... what components would I need to be able to put a 2000-2002 engine with the vvt-i technology into a 98 corolla (mine). Would it work with the auto tranny I currently have? Would I have to swap out the engine harness?

At the very least, an ECU, COMPLETE wiring harness, COMPLETE motor assy. (long block, sensors, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, throttle body, etc... etc..)

NO, well *maybe* the intake and exhaut - but the throttle body and related stuff is different. 98-99 is MAP 00+ is MAF two different air measuring methods with two completely different setups

the engine for one you'll need both have different compression ratios but very minor, that , the sensors, complete wiring harness, yes you can use the intake and exhaust runners, but you need to convert thottle body. most importantly the ecu main and the wiring harness. basically the same just minor differences.

I thought about it.... but MAF get dirty X.x.... and perf go to hell...
and 5 more HP and minimum difference in torque ain't really worth it

dont you need new cams since the non vvti system just use regular cam. and dont you also need the vvti acutator.

it was still opertational regardless with or without the cams. the check engine light was on and a few of these systems were not connected but it worked fine until it (the car ) just stopped dead in its tracks.
