How should I mod my 1993 Corolla DX

I have a 1993 Toyota Corolla DX 1.8L 4A-FE with 169,000 miles on it. It tops out around 95, and I am looking to squeeze a bit of performance out of it. I have read a bit about a swap with a turbo 4A-GE and I was wondering about the cost and work involved in this. You can check out my car at www.cardomain.com/id/johnmd32 . Any suggestions would be definitely appreciated. Thanks

The most sought after swap is the 4agze, which was supercharged from the factory and came in JDM Corollas and early MkI MR2's. Since it's built for boost, it's not hard to covert it to turbo. The latest ones were 170hp stock and you can get at least 230 out of them with some work.

Anyone know how much power a 7age or 4agte would make?

BTW.. I topped out at 110 in my Corolla before I got my intake and catback...

You can't have a 1.8L 4afe unless you bored it out which I'm assuming you have not. Engine swap probably is your best bet, you can go with the normal bolt ons that everyone has but theres no real power to be gained from it.

1993 was when Toyota started offering the 1.8L 7AFE on the Corollas. It is either a 1.6L 4AFE (105 HP) or 1.8L 7AFE (115 HP). Double check the VIN to make sure that the number matches between the chassis and the engine. You can use the free carfax and it will tell you if you have the 1.6L or 1.8L. It should be the 1.8L 7AFE if your car IS a 1993 Corolla DX or LE.

    Good Luck.

sticker underside of hood; sticker in the driver's doorway; there are many ways to tell- and DONT just look at the sticker on the distributor (mine says 7afe, but its a 4afe b/c of VIN, stickers, and other countless sources)

He was asking for suggestions on what can be done to the car. Ease up... it's obviously going to be his decision in the end.

maybe they replaced the distributor with one from a 4afe. I have the 1.6 in my car with the 3 speed auto and 331 000kms (about 195 000miles) and I still hit my rev limiter at 110~112mph without too much trouble... so you should be able to do it too... if you'd like to talk about stuff you can do to your car, feel free to add me on msn : teevee247@hotmail.com
