    Well it's either the 1.6 (4AFE) or the 1.8 (7AFE), 100 or 110hp.

Welcome to the forum by the way. Where you from?

since he has a 96 and if it is the 7AFE then he only has 105 hp, 93-94 7AFEs have 115hp but dropped in 95 cuz of emissions laws

why is the 93-94 has more power? Is it because of the ECU or difference on the motor? I want to know because the new motor I installed is from a 94 and the only thing I changed to make it work is the housing for a crank sensor.

The 93-94 has more power becuase it is OBD-1 instead of OBD-2 (emission stuff basically), so they had to retune the engine to meet the OBD-2 standards which cut some power...

obdII was not stricter emissions. obdII was the standardization of emission controls. Each company was getting out of hand - a CEL would come on... but getting the code from a Ford, Toyota, Honda, Dodge etc all required different reading devices. OBDII started in 1996 (some started earlier) by conforming to the standard rules to be used across all companies. The only codes that this doesn't apply to are ABS and Airbag codes.

You could potentially say 'obdii' was stricter only on the basis that each year emissions is narrowed.... but there wasn't a huge gap there.

i'm willing to bet that most 97's will outperform most 93's on a dyno (same motor vs same motor).

Emission controls did get stricter in '96, the same year that OBDII was imposed.

I wonder why this is in Tech Documents...

It's all in the ECU, the 96-97 has a lower redline, lower hp but a better torque range and higher peak torque.
