how do i raise my rollas rev limiter for under 400$

I AM so sick of loosing to my friends Acura CL because he could wind his car out to 7200rpms. theres got to be a way of raising my rev limiter without spending to much. now my boss owns a vw golf and he put a msd ignition in his car and was able to raise his rev limiter to like 8000 (not saying i want to do that.) can anyone help me.

Yeah, a Unichip will run you about $600 (average between new and used ones) plus he (Jack) will have to dig into your stock ECU (voiding your entire warranty) to raise it up to whatever you want.

It can be done, but not for anything under $400 that I know of :?

There is a crstal that you replace there is a diagram on NEwcelica.org. Cheap too but way voids warranty and would just slow you down more because optimal shift point is just over 6000 rpm. No point really to raise it.

Would it be possible to switch the ECU to an MR2 one? Doesn't it have the same engine, only that it redlines around the 7200-7500 mark??
