    House Prices

Just wondering what the house prices are in different parts of North America. Where I live, a decent 3 bedroom / 2~2.5 bathrooms house with a garage goes for approx. $150 000 to $175 000 (it can get more expensive if the house is really really fancy, but those prices are for an average house). Jsut wondering what you guys pay where you's are. The kicker in this, where my parents live, a house like that only goes for $85 000 to $110 000...

Around where I live - there are several townhouses (3 Bed, 2.5 or 3 Bath, ~2000-2500 Sq. Ft., 0 - 0.05 Acres, no garage to 2 car variants) going anywhere from $400K - $600K. House prices have been insane in MD/DC/VA area. I did work around Jupiter Island, Fl. - the prices there are staggering - average price of homes are around the $5-6M price range.

But the jobs and wages suck hard here though... if you are getting ~18 an hour up here, you are doing quite well, which is pretty sad...

My uncle was looking into a loft in Midtown Sacramento that was going for $700k

I know a lot of people in the San Francisco Area that have houses that are worth $1M+ now. Down in San Jose, I've seen 900sq ft houses going for $1M. Its all crazy down here.

Houses around here have increased in value quite a bit in the past 2 years. Brand new 1500 sq ft 3 bed 2 bath 2 car garage (3-2-2) homes are going for around $220,000. Five star energy rating, HRV, appliances, laminate wood flooring, basic fixtures, laminate countertop. Older homes are selling for about 20% or more than they used to. You can't really get into a decent standardised starter home for less than $175,000. Most likely you'll be in the $200,000 range. The house we are building is going to cost us $200,000 to build, estimated value will be around $255,000. 3-2-2, vinyl siding, triple pane windows, laminate hardwood floor, slate tile, stainless steel appliances, vaulted cieling, hot water boiler/baseboard, 5-star, HRV, whirlpool tub, double vanity, wood stove on 2 acres.
They're talking about closing down Eielson Airforce base, which could devistate property values as well as the local economy... Let's hope not.

well..yeah, it actually does depend where the location is because i was looking at houses in porter ranch by northridge here and they go for about 1.5 mil (for 2-3 rooms)and the 2 mil houses for about 5-6 bedrooms. they are known as "luxury homes"...VERY nice!

....but if you want a house out here in northridge, that is an average looking house....it's not the best...i dislike the neighborhoods...i just dont feel safe. but it's around 300k for a 3 bedroom place with 1.5 bath.
