    Hooking amp to stock HU

Hi.. sorry if this a n00b question but it's been ages since I hooked up an amp/sub to my brothers car and just wanna double check if this is all correct

My brother has a amp/sub and doesn't use it anymore. My mom just bought 2004 Corolla LE and wants to use the amp/sub and keep the stock hu. Reading some previous post, it's possible with Hi/Lo or Line level converter (LLC) whatever.

Anyways, should I hook up the LLC to rear speakers or on Stock HU? Where should I wire the Amp relay wire? I want the amp/sub on only when stock hu is on.. im guessing wire #9 on harness thats (pink/blue)

Thanks for any help and advice

It's easiest just to hook up the LLC to the rear speakers. The only problem is that if you fade to the fronts, you won't get any bass.

The stock head unit does have a remote turn on pin, but the car's wiring harness doesn't have a wire connected to it. The cleanest solution is to buy a connector that mates with the factory harness and a connector that mates to the radio, connect all wires between the two except for the remote turn on lead, which you run to the back.

could i just solder the amp relay to the Power supply (ACC)?

i see Power Antenna but im guessing that amp will only turn on if u have your radio on

You could do that but the amp would be on whenever the ignition is turned on, whether or not the head unit is on.

    You are correct.

just run a remote wire from ur ignition or the lighter wiring...... then put a switch (preferrably lighted switch... put the switch easy acces like by the hand brake......

make sure ur amp has high inputs,,,,,,,,, get ur input tap from the back speakers

don't worry about the fader.......... just adjust ur input gain then put ur amp in low pass mode.......................

i did a lot of my old school set up like this whenever i want to keep the system stock with a lot of bass........

i just set the bass to 0
    treble to 5
    fader middle

adjust gain of the amp.... ur set,,,, the amp only turns on when u switch it on
then when u forget to turn the remote off it will shut off since it is hooked up in the ignition

u'll be amazed by the difference

use the set up with hte switch............ use an in line fuse no longer thaan 18 inches from the battery positive red terminal going to ur amp use 0 - 8 gauge wire....
use the same gauge wire for the ground preferably black or just wrap electric tape
to ur existing wire to make black ground to chassis =
