Holy smokes - will this counterfeit BS not end!

Right after I posted up the info on the fake A'PEXi timers, another one drops out of the blue.

Background info: a buddy of mine emailed me today that his bike (Harley Davidson Softail) just seized up his engine last weekend. After waiting for bike riding weather - took it out to warm up the engine and have a little cruise. Engine just stopped dead. He recently had the jets refitted with performance ones at a local shop last summer and all seemed fine. Turns out - the jets were causing it to run way lean - since the shop didn't catch it - it will work something out for him on the repair (probably cover everything - too soon to tell yet). Upon further investigation - he measured the bore size of the jets and discovered that they are all messed up, ie. wrong size. A little checking around and it seem there are COUNTERFEIT jet kits for Harleys running the Twin-Cam 88 engines from DynoJet. Armed with this info - the little shop checks their stock and find a mix of genuine and counterfeit kits. They are going to contact DynoJet and their local distributor to see wher ethe bad parts are being injected into the shipments. He gave me a heads up on this - since I was going to get a bike for my Dad as a birthday gift.

    DynoJet website information: http://www.dynojet.com/whats_new/PressReleaseKnockOffJetKits.pdf

Even with DynoJet involvement - seems that the counterfeit parts are still out there. Attacking the 2-wheeled mode of transportation as well as the 4-wheeled variants. Piss on these scammers.

    Thanks.

As bad as these current counterfeit parts have recently popped up - just a drop in the bucket compared to counterfeit consumer electronics like branded computers, cellular phones, computer hardware, software, and batteries - at least in this country.

Overseas, I've heard that sometimes it is harder to find genuine brand name goods than finding counterfeit ones - that's totally crazy.

I hate to see anyone spend their hard earned money on bogus parts - and these counterfeiters are getting to be so good, it is harder and harder to spot the fakes. Those scammers suck.

Cell phones? I think it would hard to counterfeit a cell phone, b/c after you use it, you would realize it doesn't work as smoothly or look quite like it should.

With the increase of cheap manufacturing in many newly industrialized nations, like China, companies are actually having their authentic goods being produced there, so it's not hard for workers to take the plans for the authentic product right across the street and manufacter fakes.
