Hit and run for the list....

    Hey CorollasBest:

Might as well add me to the grave yard list. Somebody was nice enough to smash in my front driver's side door, while it was parked, and flee. The top part of the door now doesn't touch the rest of the body, so I assume they will replace the whole door. I hope, and I would imagine so does my insurance Co., that it's under $2000.

Why $2000? I dont get it.

I dont know how much a new door will cost but Im guesing it will be under 2k to get it and have it installed/painted and all that fun stuff.

Well, the initial estimate came out to $1500. This includes a new door shell, removing all the interior parts (wiring, speakers, window, etc) and reinstalling them. Removing the front bumper cover, driver's side headlight, rear door modling and handle and reinstalling all of this after painting. I never thought it would require the headlight to be removed, but since they have to blend the paint from the door to the front quarter panel, they then clear coat it all the way forward and wrap the coating into the headlight area so it doesn't peel. I just hope all of this tearing up doesn't lead to rattles, aftewards :(
