    Help

I did a oil change today and I realized that I am burning oil and have no idea where it could be coming from. Its not that bad I lost a quart of oil in like 4K miles.

Car is a 02 with like 75K on it, what could be the problem

Every 3 to 4 thousand miles, using Mobil 1 Synthetic

I noticed that with mine a couple times lately (not every oil change).
Burns less than a quart, maybe half a quart (about 400mL at MOST, probably only 250mL or so)

do you drive very hard? if so then a quart in 4k miles is actually stellar oil consumption

i drive it a little hard some times, which I think would account for the small loss that I have. I know there is no leak, and I have never smelt any burnt oil smell, so I'm just guessing that it blow back from the crack case through the PCV or whatever (my throttle body is HORRIBLY dirty)

and normally change every 5,000 km's on synthetic

Your engine uses its oil.....and some oil burns. Otherwise, what would the use of the dipstick be?

so you're saying that the oil dipstick isn't for snacks?

    oh oh....

But between all of the cars at out place that I do the oil for, there is normally a bit missing at the change , usually around 200-300mL on average (except for my sisters that goes through more than a quart between changes... it's a neon lol).
A little bit is normaly. if it starts getting really bad, like you are topping up more than a couple times between changes without any huge driving conditions or style changes, then you have a problem.
I think you burn most of the used up oil by it going back throug the pcv valve and into your intake (correct me if I am wrong).
