Engine help something wrong with the corolla

    help something wrong with the corolla

    im not sure if its the starter or not but my car wont start sometime. when i turn the key i could here the starter click...but will not fire up. so i push started it and it started. i check the voltage and it was good 12.5v...help

    check the battery terminals for corrosion. also sometimes voltage doesn't tell you much on a battery if a cell or 2 has gone bad. I'd check the terminals, then the battery at schucks/checker/kragen and go from there.

    o yea i forgot i also try jump starting it too so im sure its not the batt

    starter may be giving out, it may have voltage but you need to check for its resistance and if there is any continuity and if so how much it should not be very high.

    just some info. if the starter is clicking, there is power going to it, just not enough. And you can have 12.5V of juice, but if you do not have enough CCA(cold cranking amps), then your battery is useless! Also if you your car is starting some of the time, it is definitely a cca problem. Also you can easily be fooled by trying to jump start, b/c even though a jump start is raw power from another car, you need to let yours charge from that jump start cable for a few minutes to get the full power. Meaning you need to power up all the cells in your cars computer and other things. Point is, if you take a brand new battery and install it in your car, I can almost guarentee(99.9%sure), it will fix your problems with starting.

    got it fix took out the starter and got a starter kit and change the copper thing in it because it was warn out...now it fire up...
