    help... battery voltage decreasing

For some reason it seems like whenever the car is not running and the stereo is on or the fan or something the battery voltage decreases by a lot. When I try to start the car after running the stereo it starts very weak. I dont even have a sub or a very strong stereo either. The strange thing is that the voltage in the battery seems to decrease even when the car is just standing with nothing on.

You're probably due for a new battery.. they have a life span of about 5 years I believe. I just replaced the battery on my 99 because it was starting weak... tested it and it was about to die.

things to check- alternator, and battery condition- like dirt, corrosion on posts..take the battery out and clean it all the way and that may help= bring it to advance auto and have them check and charge it for ya..

If you have 13.6 - 14.0 volts when running and lights and other acc running, then the alternator SHOULD be operating properly. If it is the original battery it could be time.

I got an Interstate battery once from my mechanic friend (brand new, still wrapped up) it lasted a little over 3 years. Anything after 3-4 years they can go anytime.

Yeah, make sure that the alternator isnt bad. Too many people replace the battery without checking the alternator.
If the alternator is bad, youll be replacing batteries one after the other.
Most retail chain auto part stores will check your system for ya.

I just replaced my original battery a week ago. My car is a 98 btw. Got myself an Optima Redtop. Great battery, but a bit smaller than the original, took some creative thinking and custom fitting to get it in.
