Go with a open face helmet, don't really make sense using a close face in a close chassis car. Make sure its SA2000 rated or better.. although you can use motorcycle M2000 helmets for autoX, most TRACKS wouldn't allow it.. Just incase you feel like doing something a bit faster then dodging cones.

But my favorite helmet of them all would be the Arai GP5K in frost black with a iridium visor, that thing defines p1mp

Yeah I used my friend's helmet. If you don't have one they have loaner helmets most of the time. :)

HJC is the way to go for you Kris...cheap and it does have the endorsements that you need. I can get you an HJC for about $80. Normally about $150.

...I thought the rules said it only needed to have a particular transportation approval?

Lol...I've always wanted to use that guy. Check the rules...if they aren't specific, ask questions. The only real difference between auto and motorcycle helmets is the ratings they have to bear. Motorcycle helmets have to DOT3 and/or Snell approvals. AutoX may have differences. But check and see.

Yeah...I mean honestly could there really be that much of a difference between an autoX and a motorcycle helmet? ...if anything I would think a motorcycle helmet would be a little tougher...seeing as there is no vehicle interior to protect you first.

...but either way Kris...I can get any kind of helmet from any kind of manufacturer...so let me know what they say and we'll find a price for the right one...

Track officials dont look for DOT approval.. They want Snell SA2000 or better for track use.. Tho most AutoX tech inspections would be satisfied with M2000 (I worked as a tech for SFRSCCA, we're not very anal about this). But its for your own safety.. motorcycle helmets are only tested to take a single hard impact, autoracing helmets are tested to take multiple impacts.

I still remember what some salesman told me. Your helmet choice depends on the value you put on your head; is it worth $100 or $500?
