as long as you stay within factory wattage your good , its really in your own taste. not sure what the 98 corolla uses as far as bulbs , maybe h4 or 9003 like my jdm headlights . if so 55w/60w is normal , more than that , burnage , but all hope is not lost . some bulbs now have the technology , that they have built in inverters to keep that from happening and still run 90w/100w . if the bulbs dont have the built in inverter , aytozone and most autoparts retailers sell the upgrade plug and play harness sockets to withstand the greater temps.

ouch. yea i'll try and stick w/ the 50-60 ranges. but isn't there some kind of converter out there somewhere? thats if i don't find any high temp bulbs that fits my car. Though there would be some kind of plug(universal) to fit most bulbs-vehichles. Anyway thanx for the input..i need to go do more research. haha

btw Rtuner, wher'd u get your lights from? and how much a pair? there shouldn't be much difference with LE and VE (i got VE).

Yeah, shubert is correct. They sell the ceramic harnesses for high temps, however your housings may still burn. Mine are a bit crispy on the inside. You can see a little bit of brown from where it melted.

I have a fairly sharp cutoff for a non projector setup. I kind of wish I had gotten 50W HIDs instead of 35W, but then it would really attract the cops.

you probably wont even be able to notice your high beams on once you get the HID low beams.:D

ive thought about getten some , but . . . . . well , the sheild on the inside of the jdm 7th gen HL's are like aluminum , i afraid of melting the metal , or getting it hot enough to burn and warp. but you said , the projectors are cooler , than standard bulbs . i dunno , only the evos in the mitsu line up (so far) have hids , and i never had to replace any yet. being that i got H4's i would need the bi-kit , how much more expensive are they. also , are these considered as shields ? (the bulb cover inside the HL's. this is the closest pic of the headlights i can find)

The bixenons are about 50 bucks more than a traditional kit. And no, the stock headlight shields do not aid in shielding HID light. You will need additional shielding on the HID filaments. Casper shields are available for H4 HID kits that do not include shields. http://www.casperselectronics.com/M...6&Category_Code

so i just tell the guy what color temp i want and that i use 9006 low beam / 9005 high beam?

You'd have to use 2 HID kits.
The 8.1gens have a single headlamp for both hi and low beams. We can make use of the bi-xenon because it's HID for both beams rolled into one. The 8.2gens (like yours) have separate hi and low beams, so you need separate kits for each. Make sense?

can't i just make my low beam into both high and low beam with this kit and just leave the high beam unplugged?

No, because it has the H4 size fitting. You would need a 9006 specific fitting. I would just purchase the 9006 low beam HIDs. You hardly use the high beams anyways.

I have one mounted on the sides of the engine bay. I removed my windshield washer reservoir for room. You just have to find room. I mounted mine with 3M double sided industrial tape and zip ties.

how can you change our wattage? by changing out the ballasts or the bulbs itself?

and i agree with rollatuner, i bought PIAA xtreme white bulbs for like 60 bucks and yeah...its white but its nothing like the cars i see crusing around with HIDs.
