    H4 plastic plugs

How long do the stock units last? I thought my HID ballast or bulb had burned out one the left side, but after taking an hour to disassemble everything and test the bulb on the good side, it still worked. Turns out a stock halogen bulb won't even fire up on the bad side, so it's a bad plug naturally. Plugs are cheap, but is it worth to upgrade to resin based high temp plugs? It's only maybe 10 bucks more. However, my HID's are 50W and stock halogens are 55W, so upgraded plugs would be overkill. And should I go all out and upgrade both sides?

Yeah, I bet that you plugged your HIDs straight into your OEM wires, where the halogen bulb used to go? As expected, your plug has melted, or worse.

You see, while the power consumption of HID after it stabilizes is 50 watts, initially, there is a HUUUGE current draw when you power on the HIDs. Waaaaay more than 50 watts. This is even a problem for 35 watt kits.

So, you need a wire/relay harness. Basically, it bypasses the stock wires and powers the ballasts directly from the battery via the new wire kit. It uses a relay, which is triggered by the stock head light wiring, to cut the power in or out to the HIDs. You only need one side for this, so you can use your remaining good head light plug and not worry about the burned up side.

I noticed the left side flickering and cutting in and out. It was probably the plug contacts in the process of being fried. Resin/ceramic plug replacements should solve the problem. I've been running HID's for over 5 years with no issues before.

It's just a melted plug. New resin based plugs are on their way.

It doesnt hurt to go with the better one even though your bulb may not be as hot but in the long run its worth the $10 I put them in my car . Just thing a normal one will last so many years the better one's will last even longer :)

Exactly what I'm thinking. The stock unit just got old. I'm thinking of hard splicing them in instead of using the harness.

Officially pissed off. Damn ebay seller sent me the wrong harness. Now I have to wait longer to fix my headlight. I bet English isn't even his first language. And I get the feeling he's Asian.

Usually if the low beams don't work but the high beams do, just that one filament or whatever it's called blew out. That's why the other one works. Took me forever to figure that out with my brake lights. they would come on when my headlights were on, but only the right side would light up when the brakes were engaged.

IDK look at post number 16, the second quote in it says it was from Jody. But if you look at post 11, it was clearly rollatuner.

Sent an email to the seller telling him of the mix up. If there's no response on Monday, I'm taking it to ebay and paypal and getting my refund. A negative rating is also to follow.
