    H&R Springs....Front or Rear?

I have a question I have not been able to find a answer to:

My H&R springs look like they are too high in the front and too low in the rear and feel too soft in the rear and really stiff in the front.

Manufacturer states: "Lowers vehicle 1.3" in front and 1.25" in rear."

I am wondering if it is possible the front and back were accidentally switched during the install.

Is there anyway to verify front/ rear position of the springs?

The springs are supposed to be stiffer in the front. The front and rear springs are different, so they're no way for a mix up.

yea theres no physical way to switch the front and rear springs due to both their diameters and heights.

You might just have to get a different set of springs or live with it.

Lowering spring sag, this seems to be a really common trait nowadays.

Yeah it more of a cosmetic thing I guess.

I rub in the back when I have a heavy load, I was testing the rebound from the back and it felt like they have way too much give. It just did not seem to make sense to make the back ones softer.

The H&R ride with blues is comfortable though, I heard TEIN S techs can be rough...

    Wow I was interested until:

Sway bars won't prevent spring sag. Your handling would improve though.

it's just the way it looks. the quarter panel is bigger in the rear because of the door and interior construction which gives the illusion it's lower in the back. if the wheel well was bigger the opening to get in and out of the rear would be smaller which doesn't work in the US because everyone is so fat. are you on oem struts or do you have aftermarket?

I've got Tokico HP Blues on all four struts. Thanks for the responses I guess it is just an illusion.

It's not bad, I was just curious if the installer could have switched the front with the rear....hoping I guess. I have never installed springs so I would not know and it is hard info to find on Google.:superconf

Wow I don't remember when I took the picture... very well might be... the tank is in the rear right?

The gas tank hangs out over the rear wheels.

S-techs are still pretty comfortable since they use progressive spring rates.

If you think that's bad, then you should see what worn S-techs look like. The rear end pretty much drags on the ground once the springs get old.

Don't Tein S-techs have a lifetime sag warranty?

    It's only one year.

And all the cars I've seen using them have a saggy ass now.

+1 i had it back in the day the front was higher than the back,so i cut the front spring to even it out after a while it got too bouncy and went for ground control.

Ground Controls are made with Eibach springs as well which imo are much better in quality. Germans know their stuff.

A lot of race prepped cars I've seen including some Altezzas and Evos that run Super Taikyu (which runs fully adjustable coilovers BTW) actually have the same look after they dail in their suspension.. ie rear looks lower than the front. These cars are fully corner balanced so that is infact the proper/even drop. If you use coilovers to make it "look more even" you are in esscence lowering the front more than the rear.

I agree. That is correct. I set up my suspension according to that theory. The rears are slightly tucked and the fronts have about a half inch gap.

The setup is for practicality. You have heard the phrase "form follows function" right? It's not the other way around.
