    Gotta hate tire spots..

More of a rant about my wife and Mr. Tire....

My wife hit a pothole yesterday with the SUV and it caused a buldge to appear on the sidewall of the rear tire. She needs the car and I can't get out of work since i leave in an hour and a half, so I told her to take it to the dealer. After thinking about it, the dealer is way to far for her to be driving on that tire, not knowing if it will bust or not.

She takes it to Mr. Tire around the corner from where we live. They replace it and my wife leaves. Going up a hill the ABS and AWD Warning Light comes on. I told her to take it back and have them fix it. As she is waiting I show up and she says the guy is looking at it. the guy comes back saying he can't find anything wrong, it may be cause the roads are slick (it was raining) and that it was good to go.

This time "I" get into the car and same shit happens while going up the hill. I get home to notice the tire is oddly different than the rest. The "height" of the tire was smaller and it was a Toyo Proxes T1 tire. The tread on the tire was smooth like for a performance car too. I was beyond fired up and too late to take it back. So I cooled off and I went to work the next day. I called my buddy who works at an import shop and he said he was worried about the ABS cause the tire shouldn't affect the ABS. he said "lets change the tire and see if its the tire or the sensor."

This freaked me out so I went home and put the spare tire on and what do ya know..the lights went away. I went straight to the shop and raised hell. they looked at it again and realized that they put a 50 series tire on the SUV when it needs a 60 series, which is why the lights are going off. so they ordered a new tire for me and are going to do everything over again in 2 days.

The guy first said it was a different company who made the tire, blah blah blah..I told him to save the BS cause it wasn't that. I told him what I did and thats when he looked at it and realized the mistake. the manager even said that it was done wrong.

The guy even said that it was wrong and I told him, if you knew that then why did you install it on the SUV without telling my wife what could happen? and then to say the ABS is acting funking cause of the rain. all they could do is apologize.

    /rant.

EDIT: forgot to add that the reason I'm ranting about my wife is cause...well..I'll just say women drivers (not all are the same but she is one of THOSE women drivers)..lol.

I wasn't with my wife or else I would have put on the spare. She's not real handy with changing tires. Plus, it was pouring outside which didn't help much anyways. When it comes to cars, she'll either leave it to me or her brother. I told her to go get it fixed cause it was already getting late and most places around here stop working around 5pm.

Either way, it had to get replaced cause she wasn't going to ride on a spare forever.

I just want to say even though tires have the same size each manufacutre does make different shoulders .... Some wider and other thinner so that even though you have the same size but one tire off will make a difference that's why you purchase two when you change name brands.....

Other then that sorry to hear about your experience but comming from one married man to another ..... I know how you feel....LOL..... Just smile and love her ....LOL....:):):) I'm sure they will be something worse then this ....LOL :):)

Not on this one. The spare is a 17in while the rest of the wheels are 18in. And the tire on the spare is thinner, same height and the rim is different. When the guy at the tire shop saw it, he too was confused. He said he didn't understand why they would put a 17in spare on a SUV like that. I agreed but thats they way it came.

As a matter of fact, I'm gonna see if the a full size tire fits there. If it does, then I wouldn't mind buying a full size tire and a rim to have as a spare. I gotta look into it. I did that with the corolla years ago but it didn't dawn on me to do it with the SUV.
