    Got new HIDs! again...

I just bought myself my third set of HIDs. This time they're 50W babies. I got them in 4300k for maximum lumen output. And they're H4 bi-xenons of course. I finally found a company that makes these hard to find 50W bi-xenons. Pics will be up when they get here. :D

btw, my old set is for sale. http://vvti.net/forums/showthread.p...0708#post160708

I attached one to the sheet metal where my windshield reservoir used to be and the other I mounted to the bracket where the stock airbox used to go.

Nope. It's right UNDER the windshield washer reservoir tank. I removed the reservoir tank and use the double edge tape to stick the ballast to the chassis.

Xenon is just a normal HID filament bulb fixed in place. It is used to either low beam or high beam only. A bixenon is a filament bulb mounted on a movable solenoid that can control the light beam for high and low beam. So far only a few bulb sizes are available in bixenon. H4, 9004, 9007 and H13 are a few that come to mind.

So that means it's really close to the serpentine belt? For the one near the battery, i put it under the headlight without using a bracket.

rollatuner110, 4300k is nice man. it's also really bright. i went with 6000k and it's already good enough for my taste.

hey rolla, when you put your new ones in, clean up your wires! your engine bay reminds me of shopping at the old radio shack before they evolved into more than a shack.

As DOT. said, in DRL mode the headlights run in lower wattage than in normal mode, there for there is not enough juice to power up the HID (thats why the HID flick)
Strongly recommend you to disable DRL.

Thanks for your reply DOT and rollatuner110, but i've been experiencing some problems. 1st of all, i have never disabled my DRL's. So every morning right when i start up my car and release my e-brake, the drl's go on. But since i installed HIDs... right when i release the e-brake, the hid's turn on, but it flicks on and off. So i turn on the headlights (low beam) and it works fine. No flickers, no flashers, but it just plugs and play. So pretty much everytime i go out i have to turn on my headlights, which i think is unneccesary. Do you guys know what's wrong?

I highly suggest you disable you DRL.

DRL runs on lower wattage than regular "headlight on" wattage which is not good for you HIDs.

You can't have bixenon 9006. haha The high beam switch is wired only to the high beam bulb. So even if the HID kit has bixenon capability, the solenoid would be in one place only.

Lesson Learned, my hid went out today because i didn't disable my DRL's. Good thing there is a warranty. My question is if i do not disable my drl and do this http://www.9thgencorolla.com/forum/...ead.php?t=56057 do you think i will have any problem? I do drive a 1zzfe 8th gen corolla.

The 1st picture is the good bulb, and the second picture is the one that blown. THe bad one was originally in my passengers side. As you can see , there is some yellow residue inside the bulb. What is that stuff?!

Not sure if it's going to work for the 8th gen. You could try.

Why are you running HIDs with DRLs? You have to disable them.

    btw Nice thread hijack.
