got my trd muffler today finally and i need some advice...

Well i finally got my muffler from hoolala after 1 month and 3 weeks about.
I want to install it as soon as possible on my 2000 corolla.
Any pointers or advice? can i do it myself do i need any equipment?

i don't know if TRD has a kit that bolts on.. but when I installed my magnmaflow muffer and tip, I had to pay a perfessional to weld it on. They have down pipe convertors and the know-how to bypass any complication that you might encounter. While watching the guy install it, i realized that I simply didn't have the tools to do it myself. Overall, I paid about $40 for labor.

besides, your stuff might not be safe from thiefs if it's just bolted on.

well the TRD muffler is a direct bolt-on for the 01-02, all you need is a good ratchet set.

Now if you want to go to larger piping then you will need to go to a pro.

USE LOTS OF PENETRATING LUBE!!!!!

installation takes about 1 hour. only hard part is getting the rubber hanger to come out of the hanger stick thingy

Actually, it took me like two hours. The worst part about the installation is the rubber hangers. I lubed it up with wd-40 and tried to pry it off. It wouldnt come off. The rubber hangers on the thing had these plastic fibers on the inside that kept getting caught on the metal piece. Took me a while but i was able to use a pocket knife to cut those tiny fibers preventing me from pulling the rubber hangers. Overall it was easy, but those rubber hangers are a bitch.

Yeah I just put mine on 2 days ago, 00 rolla, damn rubber mount and plastic crap. Other than that I love it!

just get some rust lube and spary the nuts and bolts and also the rubber hangers to loosen them up, then i can use a small pry bar to get the hangers off...ive put on whole exhaust in 20 minutes its not hard..but then again i have a lift, all the tools, air, and teh smartnass

There's no way you're gonna bend that pipe. Yeah, I've got the same problem, but its not really that big a deal, it just means you have to be a little more careful. I have to drive up my driveway at weird angles.

damn i did so many catback installs that i average 15mins.. a good pair of mechanics gloves mean no need to wait for cool down. Some Liquid Wrench and a full socket set make things much easier.

i got the muffler installed, it sounds like a cherry bumb sorta, It adds a nice deeper sporty sound. Its pretty good. One bad thing about it is i dont like how the outlet pipe coming from the muffler bends down and then a huge tip comes out. Its too low and it scrapes when i have people in the car or even by myself. It scrapes pretty hard when i go over certain bumps... its pretty annoying, i wonder if i can somehow bend it up a little but not too much so it won't touch the body. It mostly scrapes on dips or or stuff like that. Its really annoying

it is bolted on by the axle, not just the average ricer tip that bolts over the existing, it actally replaces the whole existing stock muffler

it is a direct bolt on for the 98-02

i constantly have people in the car. Before the worst thing that could happen is the buttom of my muffler scratches. But now its the tip and its annoying. I'm thinking about changing my suspension. My shocks should be getting pretty warn down. They are originals. I have 42,200 miles on the car. I have 4 people in the car and when i go over a speed bump the rims hit the inside of the wells. I have 16 inch rims, 205/40/15 tires. Its a 2000 corolla. I think its about time ichange my suspension...

Why stiffen just the back? Is that safe or will it that make the car drive weird?
