    Got my new system!

I just got my new system installed. I dont have all the specs yet but the items are a pioneer P4400 head unit, an audiophonics 1500 watt amp, 2 earthquake dbx 12" subwoofers and a capacitor. I had to turn the bass down with this setup, it was too loud and I couldnt hear vocals in songs. :) I will also post up pics when it stops raining. They installed the amp and cap right on the back seat so when it folds down it is right there and easy to get there. Now I just got to figure a way to get a cd out of the stock head unit! I left one in there! Anyone know how to get that out? I'll probably just hook it to a battery and eject it.

    Re: Got my new system!

When you listen to the music, does the Bass mainly come from the front? or back from the trunk?

comes from the box in the trunk. The amp has a built in crossover that he turned on which is good. This way my 6 stock speakers are pushing mids and highs. It just had too much bass where he had all the setttings. Im still finetuning the sound, I have to look and see what i can play with on the radio settings. He mounted the amp and cap right on the passenger side back seat, so when you pull down the seats they are right there and easy to get too.

i have my bass at 0 or -1 on the stock headunit most of the time, because if you turn it up higher than that take a look at your back 6x9's and check out how much they rumble

Yeah i heard that before when I was adjusing the sounds. I will be making some kind of baffle or something for them so I dont have that. I also have to get some dynamat for the rest of my trunk as the whole trunk is vibrating. Just a little! :0

It's kinda off topic, but can someone tell me the steps how to tune a system? I know how crossover and gain works, but I am not sure how to make the sound stage best.

Well there are other places to put the amp and cap in the car but i have such a big box that was the most logical place to mount it. If I had a smaller box i might have been able to have him mount it on the side somewhere but the box takes up most of the trunk so it was the easiest for him. I dont mind I plan on keeping the car till it dies so it wont be bad. You could always bye some cheap seat covers to put on when u take your cap and amp out and sell them with the car.

no not really. i didn't make holes in my car. i put a piece of wood under the carpeting of the back seat and just made it big enough so that it will not slide around and i drilled holes into that. there are only holes in the carpet. thats it

Will the carpet holes hold the weight of an amp? Damn that sounds risky!!!
