man i wish i could afford a freakin GTO. bad ass car. Fast as hell, and doesn't look nearly as fast as it is lol sleeper. Of course, the rumble from the LS1 kinda destroys the sleeper image lol

I just watched the "Rides" show on TLC where they covered Millen's buildup of the Drift GTO and I was uber impressed. I love the GTO...there is this one that I always see on the way home from work on the freeway that I feel bad for, because I get to haul in the HOV lane, while he is stuck in traffic. It's yellow and it sticks out like a sore thumb...a beautiful sore thumb.

There is more to it than meet the eye. The engine is actually a cheap trick GM used. They borrowed the V8 engine from a domestic Australian small production company called Holden and stamped it as GM. The reliability of the engine must be in question till another 2-3 years.

....actually you got the right idea, but they borrowed the chassis and body style, not the engine. Its the same engine in the c5 vettes.

    GM's Marketing strategy for GTO

Like most of the other sports car/coupe in the market, GM is having a hard time selling the new GTOs. They have a new marketing strategy for it - a movie about GTO. Read on.

GM To Use Movie To Sell The New GTO

So the new GTO is struggling to meet it's core market. GM is hoping to reach interest with the middle aged who have kept a flame for the GTO going since it went away in 74', and the new Generation of drivers who are currently shopping at honda and Mitsu shops.

Their solution, a work in progress put together by Pontiac and USA Networks. It will be a two hour long TV movie. In the end, it turns out to be little more than a 2 hour infomerchial. The title will be "The Last Ride".

Of the few reasons that Motor Trend gave that this might be worth seeing, Nadine Velazquez (Who can also be seen in Biker Boyz) as the hottest Mechanic you have ever seen, and some of the best stunt-driving done in the current and past GTO's.

Of course there is massive GM product placement! Why else would a Police Detective drive a maroon Grand Prix?

The car that stars in the film, a Custom GTO. Unlike the current GTO, this one has a more curvey rear bumper with the much requested symetrical dual exhuast. And even dual hood scoops. A design which much resembles the 2005 GTO.
