gear select harness difference between 98-99 and 00-02 Corollas?

Is there any differences between a 98-99 and 00-02 Corolla 4 speed transmission? For some reason, the plug for the gear select switch/sensor is different. Are the wires still the same if I were to get another harness from a 98-99 and splice it into my 01?

Can it be switched out without disassembling the tranny? I removed the two bolts and kinda pulled on it, but it didn't want to come out. I didn't want to force it either.

I didn't know that they changed the plug, but all the same wire should be there. Get yourself a plug that matches and I'll give you the instructions on what wire goes where. :)

it should be the same unless you're dealing with a 3-speed.

It's not for some reason. Once plug is wide with rounded corners and the other is more narrow with slightly rounded corners.

All i can say is find a manual or something that states the differences, other than that i say try splicing the wires and see if it works. other than that all it may be is part of Toyota's changing of wiring harnesses when the 98-99 model years changed to the 00-02 years.

    4-spd OD and the
    5-spd Manual

I don't think there's a 4-spd non OD transmission. In any case, the sensor came off (with the aid of a pry bar) and swapped over.

    The models are:

    3-spd
    4-spd (3-spd w/ OD)
    5-spd (manual)
