    Future car plans = Dilemna

Ok, I've started to think about the next car(s) that I'm going to get and I've come to some problems. (i'm sure that many of you have been thinking about this too :) ) Also, past the first car this will be a few years off so I'm stressing over nothing but it keeps my mind occupied :)

    Car #1 - '68 Ford Mustang Coupe
    Picture
I plan to go a restomod route with it and put in a Turbocharged fuel injected motor in it with plenty of other goodies :D

The Mustang is a definite as I've been in love with them for ages.

Now here comes the dilemna... I want an AWD car for snowy occasions so.

    Car #2a - Audi S4 Avant
    [IMG]
This is a GORGEOUS car and I love the lines of it. The power is really nice and the Audi AWD system can't be beat. With a 40/60 split in power it will be amazing in both snow and dry conditions. The Avant is more practical and looks better than the "Saloon". When modded these look uber clean!

Car #2b - Subaru WRX or STi
    Picture
Good power and modding potential. Nice lines but the AWD system isn't as nice, the car isn't as luxurious. The big reason why I'm looking into the WRX is the fact that it's nearly $20k cheaper than the Audi.

    What do you all think?

Wait longer and get the S4 avant
    or
Wait less and get the Subaru?

I don't think its worth paying the extra 10K for the STi trim.

Audis are worth the extra money- my frind has a new S6 and you can go 60mph+ around those tight 270 degree ramps. Awesome touch/response. Also, looks much MUCH nicer than that suburu.

I like the Audi....but....im not feelin the wagon style......personally, i would go with the Audi S4 instead just for that reason....heres a pic of an Audi S4 (Car #149 in the Gumball 3000 - 2002)

....don't get me wrong, there was an Audi Avant Cerwin Vega wagon (Car #47)in the same year Gumball....it still looked nice too...but i liked the sedan better...

I would go with the Audi. If it's a better car, and you've got an extra yearly salary of an average citizen laying around, go for it!
I have to say also, that I don't like wagons much either. You're concerned about snowy conditions. Well let this be a bit functional, and stay with a wagon in case you need the extra room. Unless you have another vehicle with more space, go wagon.

I'd say get the STi. I can't speak for you, but I like performance more than luxury. And the STi is a great value for the money.

I wouldn't suggest getting any old Mustang as a daily driver, your dream mustang sounds awesome, but that's gonna be expensive as hell, not to mention give problems.

Yeah, I like the sedan more than the wagon- and of course, you could call me biased because of my friend, but it is really sweet. It's bright yellow (2004ish) and has the original SPNGEBOB license plate :D (his name is Bob :D )

    wow that audi looks great.
If you go with the WRX, just remember the manual tranny is pretty damn weak on those.

Turismo. The Audis in the Gumball are always nice but I think those two look like crap! Man, I hate stickers. The Avant that you showed is actually an RS4 which is definitely better than the S4.

And yes, I know that the Mustang will be expensive. That's why I have the dilemna of which daily driver to get. But man, will I have fun with the Mustang. :D

If I were you I would go with the A6 Avant. What about the new Acura RL with SH-AWD or the BMW 330Xi (Xi= AWD) bmw speak, ( I don't see whay they can just put three simple letters. Or for some reall sleeper fun check out the Volvo S70 R version, they come in sedan and wagon form too.

The A6 avant is more $ and not an S :) ... As for the Acura and BMW the AWD systems on those aren't on the same level as the Audi's. Audi probably has the best system around. Also, I want a wagon version of the car I get cause I like the lines a lot.

I see where you are coming from. To be honest just test drive them especially the acura. it has a driving experience like no other AWD that I have driven except for the EVO. thats a little crotch rocket that kool. As for line in auto design I have to admit audis are cool. the bmw and mercedes and jags probably appeal to me as the audi does to you. One question are you trying to make a statement in having what you consider good looking as in design or something that fits your income. I hate driving my moms accord but when i test drove the acura it had excellent handling and adequate power for 300 hp it was quite well.Audis are getting better in the sense of cost and maintence. But if you really want to stand out in the crowd go with the audi. If you wonder why i am speaking this is because i do automotive consulting on the side and help friends and family and others purchase cars. take your time and figure out exactly what you want as new and more invigorating automobiles will come out.

Oh, I will definitely be taking my time and watching as new cars come out to market. THe only car that I'm 100% set on at this point in time is my Mustang which I'll have in hopefully one year. My next car will be a few years after that.

Thanks for pointing out the Acura as I would never have looked at that route. My "problems" with it are that it's more than the S4 Avant, has less power, less sports appeal, and isn't a wagon..
