    Fuse Problems?

I went to my local Toyota dealer to pick up my '03 Corolla S I bought last weekend. So the sales guy is showing me the power locks, how to adjust the mirrors, etc. Then he gets to the radio, and it won't come on! At the same time I noticed the clock had disappeared, and he asked me to try the power mirrors, and all of a sudden they didn't work either! Unfortunately the mechanics had already gone home, so that left a few of the other sales guys and a detailing guy to try to figure that one out. They seemed pretty certain it was a fuse but I guess didn't know which one blew and/or how to take care of it. Anyway, I got to drive it home since the mirrors were already adjusted, but I'm taking it back there for the mechanics to examine tomorrow. This car has 30K on the odo...I expect this is highly unusual? I hope this is not a bad omen. Anyone else have similar experiences?

Heres a link to the electrical systems manual on this site.. try looking over the general diagrams for a common point (fuse/breaker) between the affected systems.

It's the 15A CIG fuse. Nothing to worry about unless it keeps happening...

As long as its just the fuse then its no biggie, as long as it dosnt keep happening. Its actually happened to a few people here on the board before, including me. Its located in the fuse box under the dash by the steering wheel. I just took the spare 15A fuse from the engine compartment fuse box and used it to replace the bad one.

I sudgest going out and buying a pack of assorted fuses (lots of different fuses in one pack) and keeping one or two of each kind in the car somewhere, just incase anything ever happened and vital fuse blew and you were in the middle of nowhere.

Well you're not going to believe this...I got the problem fixed this afternoon and the sales guy told me the short was caused by an "aftermarket" cigarette lighter. The short happened when he was demoing the lighter. He gave me a new one, and all is well. All that just so I could see hear how horrible the stereo is.
