    Fuel related questions

    Ok, here goes.

When I'm driving a mix of highway and city what can I expect mileage wise without any at starts etc and not over 75 on the highway?

When the fuel light comes on, does anyone know how much fuel is still in the tank? I was on E and the light only came on during sharp times.

For the best fuel economy, does anyone have any suggestions on shift points?

    Thanks for any help.

I wouldn't know how much you would be getting mile-wise on the highway, my guess would be mid 20's as for the gas light, I do know that some cars have reserve tanks that are anyware from 2 to 5 gallons, givin the corolla's small tank I would say 2 gallons, but I don't think that I would trust the light all the time, I know that I have been under E and my light still hasn't come one, so I make sure that I always have more than a quarter of a tank of gas at any given time. I have an auto so I automatically has shift points, but for economic driving I would say that anywhere between stalling, and 2800 rpm would be fine,

I'm thinking there's 1 or 2 gallons in the tank when the light comes on.

Shift wherever it's smooth and comfortable and you're not jerking around or fighting with the engine to keep it going. And remember, shifting too low wastes gas as well.

I quit running my car until the lamp comes on probably 1-1.5 gal left though. I used to do a lot of 1st---> 3rd---> 5th when possible. CW
