Found 10 CD changer, plays MP3 & plugs into the Stock h

I have a 04, with 6 speaker with CD only, the 6 CD in dash to my knoledge was a 05 only thing, I added a CD Changer, mounted it in trunk and it works great with stock head, it is a 10 disk for $249 and plays CD-RW, CD-R and MP3 and the stock one is $500 and plays 6 and no MP3 and only some CD-RW and some CD-R, is is a bit picky...

so yes the best way is to change the head, get more power, but the features are fine on the stock head, on the 10 CD changer it even reconises the 10 CDs, it has no chariter for "10" so it looks like a sqyared off capitol "A" but 1-9 are fine and you can add one in dash so I can play 11...

I'm curious....how in the world would you browse folders and such through the stock headunit? I know the 05 head (maybe the 04 LE, I'm not sure) and the Celica head offer CD-Text, and that would be barely usable for that sorta thing....but how would that work on the stock unit is beyond me.

Nice find, though...even though I really cannot understand why anyone would want to spend the money on a stock-compatible changer when it's still the stock system....

a little lost on the reply but I will try...

Brose folders...you must mean MP3 right....not sure, ask their tech support...probally just goes song to song, so you would not creat subfolders, but not sure...

O4 LE had the same head unit offerings as the S, so the LE would not have anything magical...

04 offers were CD with 6 speaker, CD Tape with 6 speaker, or both with 4 speaker ..

CD Text? Dont know how it word or would not interfase, ask Frank at SSI, I think it would as the info is still passed to the head unit, so why not??

The stock head reconises it right away, the soft keys worked on first try, it has been over bumps and no skip, and I even removed the pos cable to see if I could trip up the interfase, but all works well...I was told some units that interfase with OEM have problems with remembering each other after a power disconnect...so I tryed it and all was well...

I like the stock look, I changed the speakers, but know watts are the main reason to change the stock head, sure some feature reasons as well, but power would be the main one...

the stock head seems to work fine for now, and even if I get another head unit down the road, it is nice to have 10 CDs in the trunk, even if the head unit holds 6, so no loss on the investment...and what the heck for $159...

worked great, no issues, the unit cannot make a number "10" for the 10th CD is says "A" but other than that no issues, install easy, plugs right in...ran cable on drivers side channel and trunk mounted it...1 hour...
