    Forza Header owners

did you guys get a CEL after installing the forza exhaust header?

i got a code, P0171 System Too Lean (Bank #1).
what should i do about it?

after resetting it the first time, it took a while to get back on.. like after 250-270 miles, it came back on.

should i start thinking about getting the emanage blue or something else that you guys recommend over the emanage blue?

try cleaning the MAF first then reset the ECU again

I don't have any CEL. I have a serious leak problem instead. I swear, this header is such a headache. I'm going to have to shell out 125 tomorrow to get a flex tube welded on and have the cracks welded shut.

i thought you already had all that done?

anyway, i was doing some research on the p0171 code and it says that an exhaust leak might cause it to CEL which is why im surprised you dont get the code thrown at you.

are you talking about the MAF on my cai?

I'm surprised too. All I notice is a loss in power...

did you have to bend the header pipe? i think i might have to or at least move the flex pipe away from the front sway bar

I've never had that code before (knock on wood). I have a small exhaust leak where the end of the header joins the cat, but I'm not losing power.

p0420 means bad cat... hopefully it's just a leak around the header and bank 2 is getting an inconsistent reading.

Yes I'm thinking the problme may not have anything to do with the new header before but since you got p0420 now i'm not too sure. So yeh, time to check for leaks.

ah i see. i'll have it checked out when i get back in the city. for now i will have to deal with the burning image of the CEL while i drive everywhere. how much do cats run for our cars? i hear they are in the hundreds and i am wondering if i can get one from magnaflow and if it will be just as good as oem.

its been like 225miles without the CEL coming back on.
how often does the cat convert thing read the o2 sensors anyway? i think it has to wait when it gets 600 degrees or something right?

i used to have p0420. it sucks. it totally robs you of your gas milage. get it fixed right away. while the code is off, you might not experience any loss in mpg. but it can take a while for the CEL/MIL light to turn on. i've waited 2 gas tanks for p0420 to turn on and thats over 700 miles. if your CEL comes on again, get it scanned and if it says p0420, get a new cat and since you're at the shop, get your header checked for leaks. i was and i currently run the forza header with a slight leak, and i had p420. when the cat was replaced, p420 went away, and i still had leaks. it's gotta be a bad cat. from the look of your signature, i drive a late 8th gen. its time for your cat to go. it happens, dude..

hey, i have a magnaflow cat im not using...it has some welded metal on the in and exhaust ports, but i can cut that off and clean it up for you. ill sell it for 50 and we can negotiate shipping. and it is authentic so you dont have to worry about a knock off...i even have the box if you want that

yo i got tha forza headers too and i got that same check engine light, i was thinkin it was because of the headers too, i just cleaned off the MAF today all that debris and dirt just rolled off from the lil wire piece and i reset the ecu so hopefully it'll stay off. i also had problems with the headers too, right at the end where it meets the cat i also had to get a flex pipe it was a 100 bucks and since then i havent had any problems wit it except for breaking one of the studs for the o2 sensor..., 94 rolla wat kinda cat is it ? is it universal or oem

btw has anyone used magnaflow cat converters to replace their oem ones? i'm kinda iffy about it.

im just a lil iffy about replacing the cat converter because the code started appearing soon after i put the header on.

nope! my exhaust system is completely aftermarket. when winter break comes, i'm going to put back my stock header. i don't like these horror stories of cracking my header.

Does a ported stock manifold compare to an aftermarket header? If it's about the same, I'll go back to stock. But as of right now, I'm thinking of getting a flex pipe put in.

I feel slightly more power with forza header for sure.
Off topic: When I put flex pipe, my tranny shifting is so much smoother lol.

Ok. I think I'll just get a flex pipe installed and then have my header patched up again.
