    For all you AutoXr's

Ok guys, I havn't had a chance to take my Rolla to the track yet, but I was wondering from those of you with Exp, what is your impression of the Handling of your rolla, I am interested in the 03-04 models, so far I like it, it is to say a little roll happy, but if you enter the right way the car seems to take curves pretty well, what are your opinions on the car as a competetor in a auto X event, Driving isn't going to be an issue, just want to know what I can get out of the car.

not to much..... body roll and a loose chassis hurt its performance, and understeer becomes a huge issue...... compared to my ae86? apples and raisins

in stock form the 03+ don't handle too well. my 99 handled better stock. With 215 tires, strut brace and teins the 03 handles considerably better :)

My 99 runs good, I only added the strut bars, haven't lowered it yet, but I've taken some corners here in VA with no problems at all.

SCCA does have a stock class in solo2.. I imagine running a stock 03+ corolla would be like running a rav4

I am quite happy with my 04 Corolla S in terms of handling. It handles quite well when pushed hard around the edges, but by no means like a sports car ( XRS is much closer in that sense). The stabilizer bars at the front and back give it a lot of body roll stiffness. I can take curves well at decent speeds. I went into the mountains for a 400 KM drive out of the city to lakes and glaciers and most of the roads are spiralling around the mountains. I was very impressed with the way my 04 Corolla S negotiated the curves at higher than average speeds. My main beef is with the solid rear axle torsion beam with trailing arm, which is more like a Jetta-esque approach since VW has been using it for ages. Toyota used to put a sophisticated multi link independent suspension at the rear in pre 2003/04 Corollas, but somehow decided to go for a cheaper method. Apart from this, it only exceeds my expectation in terms of handling.

ok, it has quite a bit of body roll stock, but damn not as much as a rav4!! lol. and besides, the body roll is quite easy to reduce drastically. Mine has easily half the roll it did stock, and im still rolling completely stock suspension with the exception of springs and a strut brace.

Actually, the new Corolla has a lot more body roll stiffness ( I saw a video of a guy who demonstrated the level of body roll stiffness by quickly turning a Corolla CE onto a steep ramp - The result was that the rear right wheel got lifted in the air for a second) and the steering has a lot of weight to it and road feel.
