    Exhaust Tip?

this could be the wrong place for this question but I was wondering how exhaust tips go on. I dont want an exhaust because I dont like the sound all that much so I was wondering how the tips work. I went to Pep Boys and there were a bunch of different ones that would fit for 2.5 inchs, 3inch, 4 inch etc...I went out and measured around my stock pipe and the total diameter was 6 inches I am guessing that I divide that by 2 so then its 3 inchs is the one I need. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

uhmmm.. well.. if ur gonna measure around.. its called your circumfrence (forgive my spelling, its tired)... you divide it by pi ( π ) which is equal too.... approx 3.14 which gives u an outer diameter of 1.9... which would put u at about 1.75 inch pipe (i.d. = inner diameter)... thats how those are measured.. typically you'll hear someone say "my muffler has a 4 inch tip, thats actually the diameter of the outside of the tip... why don't u just go to an exhaust shop and have them weld u on a tip.. they know what they're doing and it'll look a lot more professional than the screw on ones u can get at pep boys..
