    Exhaust system leak

My 99 Corolla is making an exhaust noise when I give it a lot of gas but its quiet when its cruising and at idle. The noise seems to be coming in the front of the car. What are the weak part of the Corolla muffler system and where do I look for a possible leak? Thanks a million

weakest part of all toyota systems is the flex-pipe. race the car up, get under and have someone get on the gas a bit in neutral. listen from there

I've had that problem twice now, both times it was the donut where the manifold connects to the exhaust pipe. Put the car in drive, stand on the brake, and hit the gas. The engine will torque aqainst the brakes, and it twists the pipe wide open while your on the gas. It'll be pretty loud. Just wait till you hit slush or puddles this winter, it'll sound like you're driving a bomb. The donut is easy to replace, but the root cause is the motor mounts. The right side motor mounts on our cars suck. Its been a problem since about 93. Does anybody make aftermarket motor mounts for our cars?
