I just saw another review on a Canadian TV show called Motoring 2004 of the Corolla XRS and they praised it a lot and claimed that it will do very well against the competiton while showing footage of a screaming silver Corolla XRS zipping around slaloms and other obstacles. I concurr.

The XRS has drive by wire which i hear aint the best when modding/tuning a car. the 2zz is pretty much dead but it has new life in the elise. You better hope they start making cams or the xrs wont be shit on the streets.

2000 Celica Gts w/ action package is still one of my fav rides tho...

Most of the cars these days are coming with drive by wire throttle ( not sure about the really heavy weights such as WRX, SRT-4 etc., but 350Z has drive by wire in it). So there must be a reason they are putting in real sports cars. As for your claim that 2ZZ engine cannot hold up on the streets, yes the 2ZZ has limited mods and that is where it losses. Although, my friend has been racing his stock XRS against modded compact cars ( including an Intrepid V6) and the only race he has lost is to a white Integra Type R. but stock on stock, it kills most of the cars in it's class ( Civic Si, Mazda 3, Sentra SE-R, Mitsu Ralliart etc.).

The XRS reviews by magazine have been glowing and judging by driving it for a week now, all I can say is that this car is pure exhilaration. I smoked a Jetta 1.8 Turbo as well. Nonetheless, the T Sport is over 200 pounds heavier than the XRS and all the power in the T Sport is above 6000 rpm.

As said many times, the xrs is much different than the T-sport. Evo probaly wouldn't of rated it that much higher, since they have good compact cars. XRS wouldn't doesn't have the suspension that some of their cars do.

Im not talkin bout stock for stock and i aint talkin bout the average bolt-ons either. Im talkin bout the true modders. The 2zz has a low ceiling and u kno it. I luv the design and the cars it's in but i kno if i ever got one the most i could do and stay reliable would be i/h/e. Im not knockin drive-by-wire all im saying is ecu tuning wont be happening on the 2zz and all the cars u mentioned have programmable ecus out.

I think there was a discussion on 2k3, that the Corolla S 05 has drive by wire and not the XRS.
